Re: Favorite Fight Scene
ok, I voted for the fingermen alley scene...
I loved the fact that V jsut showed up, and without asking quesitons jsut took ahold of what was going on.
and the way he helps evey up... ;)
close second would deff. be the jordan tower fight. love the contrast between him and the halls, just gorgeous. and yes, swooshy hair
I did like the fact that the Victoria Staion was in slow motion. we could actually WATCH his hands. love his line of "my turn".
he does however DIE.
which kinda sucks.

You know, that's one thing that bothers me about the novelization - he promises she will return home safely, takes her to the roof, destroys the Bailey, then she turns around and he's disappeared! How could he do that after promising she'd get home safe?

LOVE "My turn"! - I've actually gotten to the point that I automatically take those two deeeep breaths with him, without thinking.
And I do love the slow motion - lets us appreciate the choreography - I just think they could have toned down the blood a bit.

Re: Favorite Fight Scene
I love the last fighting scene. I loved the fact that he used a body armor to not die by the bullets. I can't get over the lines "My turn" and "Beneath this mask is more than flesh. Beneath this mask there is an idea, Mr. Creedy, and ideas are bulletproof."

Oh so true! I love that scene too. It was so hard to choose my fave fight scene because of that line "....ideas are bulletproof."

Re: Favorite Fight Scene
After a lot of deliberation I voted for Jordan Tower.
I love the Fingerman Alley scene. It was that scene, and the destruction of the Old Bailey that made me not only love the film with in minutes of it starting but also decide to buy the dvd the day it comes out (probably pre-order even!).
I really enjoy the Victoria Station scene, particularily "My Turn" (and the knife throwing/twirling that immediately follows) and the final confrontation with Creedy. The one thing that led me to choose Jordan Tower over this-the excess of blood. It doesn't bother me on a disgust level, I just don't see a need for it.
Jordan Tower however. . .
I love the whole thing. I have gotten chills every time I have seen it, and an evil sense of glee, as soon as the cops realize that they are in BIG trouble. It's the silently standing up behind them, and the knife twirling that gets me everytime. I love that it is fast paced, and how he uses the cops as shields and weapons. My evil laugh doesn't erupt, however, until he has thrown his shield over his head and swoops in for the last kill. The whole thing really. . .
It doesn't really bother me that there are only a couple of fight scenes. They are well coreographed, and the knives! I don't like gunfights. Blades however. . .
The only fight scene that comes to mind that I like better than fighting with blades, is when Maximus beats the living snot out of Commodus with his bare hands in Gladiator. . .
I think I need to stop rambling and go watch Gladiator now. . .

Re: Favorite Fight Scene
At the risk of having you all show up at my front door carrying torches and pitchforks, I have to say this: I like the "bloodiness" of the Victoria Station fight scene. I really do. Normally the sight of blood makes me woozy --- whether it's real blood or not --- but in this particular scene I felt it was filmed in such a theatrical way (like the slow-motion knife throwing) that it just seems appropriate. Plus, it emphasised the fact that V was doing some serious arse-kicking!

Re: Favorite Fight Scene
I also think it was good to not add too many fight scenes. Some people say there was too much talking, and that it was too slow paced, but I say otherwise.
Ahh, Gladiator. That used to be a movie I liked a lot before. Still is. But nothing beats V for Vendetta.

(Warning: Rant ahead)
Yeah, so those same people wouldn't enjoy the English language's greatest playwright (where there's a Will, there's a play!) - they lose out BIG time.
There are too many movies out these days that don't have enough talking, if you ask me. I'm not a huge fan of excessive exposition, but a lot of today's movies don't have enough of it and I leave the theatre wondering what the point of the plot I just watched was. I'd rather watch V than a film that can be described as "fighting and explosions interrupted every so often for a line of dialogue." (And I use the term "dialogue" advisedly - a quip or tagline does not dialogue make.)
I'd rather have three or four beautifully choreographed fights that naturally flow from the plot (i.e. V had to fight the Fingermen to save Evey) than 20 fights that have no purpose but to show off the pretty car that GM or Ferrari gave to the movie for the free publicity (or whatever). Quality over quantity.
Let us not forget that movies would not exist if it weren't for theatre, where they didn't/don't have CGI special effects, the ability to switch locations at the touch of a button, quick-cuts, and the like. Explosions and fighting, they could do, though. But for the rest, they had to paint the picture with "words, words, words."

Re: Favorite Fight Scene
Yeah that's what I think too. I heard someone say "They should have added more action to it, the only thing the Wachowski Brothers are good at".
I also love the first fighting scene in the fingermen alley. I love when V stands there in the shades, and says "Disdaining fortune with his brandish'd steal, which smoked with bloody execution".

Philistines! Wouldn't know a good script if it dropped on their head.
