I officially love Google

True, I loved them before, but now I adore them.

Shameless self-promotion of my LJ post where I talk about why I love Google

And check out this video from Google: "Don't vote"

Re: I officially love Google

I have apparently figured out the secret of actually getting people to comment on my LJ entries. emoticon My entry about Google opposing Prop 8 has gotten the largest number of comments ever (for me).

Of course, that's largely due to me emailing several people (like KittyRoomie and Iseult) to ask them to drop by after an anonymous poster piped up. And now I have a second anon poster (who at least "signed" their comment with their initials).

Not that I'm about to turn my LJ into a broiling pot of controversy just to get people to comment, but I find this interesting.

All I have to say is, at this time, I don't even know what else is on the ballot. I'll need to read my Voter Guide. I know I'm voting FOR Obama and AGAINST Prop 8, but that's about it.

Equality and abortion are my two major hot-button issues. [/musing]

Re: I officially love Google

ButMad posted the link to Equality California in this post. That lead me to this link which is a copy of the letter ProtectMarriage.com sends out to companies and organizations who donates to EQCA.

In the letter, ProtectMarriage.com writes: "Were you to elect not to donate comparably, it would be a clear indication that you are in opposition to traditional marriage." and "It's only fair for Proposition 8 supporters to know which companies and organizations oppose traditional marriage."

This offends me on so many levels - especially the "you're either with us, or against us" tone.

Yes, I do support same-sex marriage - but that does not mean that I'm against traditional marriage emoticon emoticon

 emoticon Flare emoticon

They're despicable, aren't they?

They are lying, twisting words, and now outright threatening in their attempts to have their way. That's why I donated to EQCA, finally (I've been wanting to for a while, but my finances.... but I couldn't stand by and let "Yes on 8" get away with that, so I donated $10/mo for 5 months. I can afford that, somehow.) - I "outed" my support myself to show "Yes on 8" that their threats of exposure are empty. (The one good thing I can see in this latest tactic is that if they're that desperate, we have them running scared. At least, I hope so! emoticon)

The whole idea of their slogan, "Protect marriage," is offensive - exactly how is anyone's marriage threatened by other people getting married? (On that note, see this vid.* emoticon) If your marriage is on such shaky ground that it's going to fall apart because Joe and George down the street get married, that's your own damn problem.

And, as many people on the 'Net have said, in "traditional marriage," women were considered to be the property of their husbands (among other issues that would be unacceptable by today's standards). Who in their right mind would support that?!

*bites lip on further rant before she gets into her opinion that they're attempting to turn us into a theocracy OR into how deeply and personally offensive she finds their argument that "marriage is for procreation"* I could go on about this for quite a while longer - and indeed have "lost" a few days lately to doing just that around the 'Net. I can't wait for the election to be over; I need not to be in such a high state of arousal for a while. I can't remember ever before being so worked up over an election.

On a more positive note, have you heard the news about Apple? emoticon

*On the subject of vids, please visit this YouTube channel and give all their videos high ratings - the "Yes on 8" crew have been attacking them and rating them low.

Yes, they are, but aren't people, who knows what's the best for the rest of us, always that?

No, I hadn't heard that. In fact I've only seen one newspaper article in Danish about the prop 8 issue.

Re: I officially love Google

emoticon Oh, gawd. There's been a coordinated cyber attack on the No on 8 website, keeping people from being able to donate money to fight Prop 8.

Will these discriminatory bastards stop at nothing?!

I can't do this anymore. I need to take care of things in my immediate surrounding. I'm exhausted and terrified that it's all going to go wrong.

Is it Tuesday yet? I want to vote. That's all I can do at this point. I can't give any more money. I don't have time to donate. I just want to vote No on 8, No on 4, Yes on Obama and then hide under a chair until the results are tallied.

I want it to be over.

Prop 4

Twice they've tried to pass something like this, twice they've been shot down. Now, for this third attempt, they're trying to write it into the state constitution. What IS it with people trying to amend the constitution this year?!? emoticon
