At the very least we need to stop being so damn selective about it! Fascist dictator in Iraq gets brought down, but then he has oil, fascist dictator in South Africa causing misery to thousands, but we're fine with that cause they've got nothing to offer us!

I know what you mean though. Madonna really pissed people off here when she went to Africa to adopt a child. But no, she wanted a black baby, I don't even want to let my brain 'go there' with the logic in that woman's brain.
Anyhoo, I'm wandering off topic again, at least this is the politics thread.

And I do that. My point was about how the media behaves, how they try to ram it down our throats. And a lot of people buy into it, they listen to the over-polished talking heads about how they "must tune in at 11 to find out what in your kitchen might kill you." (Or whatever.)
In other words, the "news" is looking for sensationalism and ratings, not actual news. Everything's a crisis, everything's out to kill you, every spit of rain is life-threatening...
(Sorry if I'm rambling worse than usual; I've got Top Gear on and am distracted.)

No argument here. And Iraq was, IMO, first about Bush Jr. settling his daddy's fight (several years late - if we'd gotten him the first time, my BIL wouldn't have missed most of his son's life thus far - thank GAWD he's home for good now!); second about oil; tenth about taking down Hussein.

Indeedy and most news these days is more celebrity orientated than anything else! I think I have now found news sources that I feel I can trust, but it's taken me years to find them. In the end, most have an agenda.

*nods* Fox News here in the States has been really scary Conservative as long as I can remember. And I mean in the "Bush can do no wrong, and we're going to make things up to slander Obama" kind of way.

Ta, luv.  I hope so, too, because it would really suck to fly with this!
Showering and/or doing a bit of self-hypnotic work seems to have toned down the pain, at least. I'm going to sit down with one of Mark's programs when I get back from errands to see if that helps at least make me more comfortable (also, deep relaxation boosts immune function).
