ButMad, there are several possible definitions but basically it's a deliberate misspelling of the word "owned". You might substitute 'dominates' or the like in the sentence. Like if someone gives a particularly scathing reply to So-and-so on a message board, a poster might comment "So-and-so got pwned!" There's other ways of using it. You might want to check out Urban Dictionary for more info (though be prepared to wade through a lot of dross).

Actually, "vernacular" refers to the "nonstandard or substandard everyday speech of a country or region... especially as distinct from literary language," a much different thing than a "title." (Sue me for being technical about language - I was an English major. After all, "words offer the means to meaning," but not if the meaning of the word is misunderstood. That quote is one of the many reasons I love V!) But Chakram was right - I knew what "vernacular" was - the term I was asking about was "pwned." Thanks for the info, Chakram! I'm going to add it to the thread about emoticons and things...
