The history that's unfolding right now, even though it scares the crap out of me. (Downside of staying at my parents': I'm exposed to a lot more news.) And British history.

From the history to the future: What are you most looking forward to in the next year?

The 5th of November, natch.
When the Victory of Obama momentarily looks like the fulfillment of our political dreams, which it can't be. By the next day it will look more like the avoidance of our worst nightmares, which it very well may be.

If you could patent one invention, what would it be, or do?

Work with play the happy differentiation!

Very interesting pessimistic optimism there, Cyrano.

I'd like to patent an invention that allows for secure voting from anywhere in the world, because there's no reason - in this age of computers and Internet and phone lines and global connectivity - that we can't count EVERY SINGLE INDIVIDUAL vote accurately and quickly.

Something a little more light-hearted: Red or White? (interpret as ye will)

Re: Interrogation Room

Well, one of my coworkers thought that we all should dress up as Alice in Wonderland characters. Nobody but me agreed. She's going to be the Mad Hatter, and I was going to be the Cheshire Cat. I've already got the grin and devilish expression, but I can't seem to find a costume anywhere.

Correction - my choices are a ridiculous looking one piece where the hands may or may not be detachable (which would severely limit how much typing I got done that day) or a costume that would make a streetwalker proud.

So, long story short, I'm going to wear the costume that I wore as a baby. An orange cape with a green collar, and a little green headpiece with a stem. Yes that's right, I'm going to be a pumpkin. emoticon I was going to go with my brother's baby costume, which was a dragon (similar set up, cape and headpiece) but the headpiece fully covers the head, unlike the pumpkin costume. I don't think my head is quite small enough for it anymore. emoticon

What is your favourite time of year, and corresponding holiday? (mine's fall and Hallowe'en, with Thanksgiving a close second)

My heart stopped! I thought you meant your birthday suit for a moment.

Has anyone seen V costumes in stores?
[not I, although I don't think I'd dare. Just wondering about the corporate/cultural mood]

I haven't noticed any, but I've been so focused on finding a Cheshire Cat costume I may have completely missed them. Don't think there's a big market for them in my area, though, so I doubt they were there for me to miss.

I love Christmas, but I don't really like winter (gets dark too early, for one thing). I love late spring/summer, with the longer days and warmer weather, but only if I don't have to live in the desert, where summer is just insanely hot.

So if I could celebrate Christmas in the summer in a temperate climate, I'd be great! emoticon On the other hand, Christmas gives me something to look forward to during my least favorite time of year, huh? emoticon

[/ramble]

What is your favorite piece of clothing/favorite outfit?

Dressing gown and slippers 'cos it means I'm in and cosy for the night. emoticon Madlings, I promise to get dressed occassionally when you're here. emoticon

If you could repeat an event from your life so far, what would it be?
