This actually took place about a week ago but I couldn't find a more updated article. Since then, the baby has died and arrests have been made in connection with this whole sickening affair.

BOGALUSA, La. (AP) - Bogalusa Police say they're investigating an abuse case involving a six-week-old baby. Police spokesman Sergeant Darrell Darden says the baby was beaten, burned and drugged and the child's 19-year-old mother and other relatives are among the suspects.

Darden says a baby sitter noticed the child was not breathing about 1:30 a.m. Sunday and saw several marks on her body and called 911. Darden says the child suffered head trauma, hemorrhaging, burns and drugs in her system.

The infant, identified as Diana Nelson, was transported to Children's Hospital in New Orleans where she's listed in grave condition and is on life support. Doctors are scheduled to perform brain activity tests on the baby over the next few days.

The infant's 14-month-old sister is in the custody of child protective services pending an investigation. No arrests have been made.
