Judges reject Islamic 'phone marriage'
Three senior appeal judges have refused to recognise an “over the telephone” Muslim marriage between an autistic British man and a woman in Bangladesh — even though the union is valid according to sharia or Islamic law.

There are so many things wrong with this case that I'm not sure where I should begin. A marriage conducted over the telephone? A bridegroom with a mental age of three? A bride who, in all likelihood, didn't agree to this arrangement either?

Re: Judges reject Islamic 'phone marriage'
Marriage ceremonies conducted via telephone aren't unheard of - soldiers stationed abroad via wartime sometimes married their girl back home that way.
At least, I think I've heard of a couple of cases like that...
But yeah, as for the rest.....
