Re: Confession Time!
If there was some sneaky extra on the dvd that showed V unmasking - or, if I were in Evey's position on the train with V about to be sent into firework history; I don't know that I'd be able to resist looking.
It's Eve, all over again: 'don't eat the apple'! It's Pandora with that bloody box, she knows what will happen, yet can't resist.
It's Psyche with Cupid, leaning over him with a candle at night to see the face of her lover for the first time despite being told she could never see his face and should never seek to try.
I'm not saying I definitely would, I'm just saying I'd be reeeeeeeeeeally tempted.
Curiosity squished the cat, I know. Mew.

Of course you realize, since V was never to be unmasked, there was probably no makeup involved (what a time saver!), so if he did unmask in some DVD Easter egg, we'd see..... Hugo! or maybe David, the stunt guy (who, BTW, was the "Anarchy in the UK!!" convenience store robber V).

Re: Confession Time!
When V speaks I can't help but see Hugo, I know that voice so well (and when just listening, not looking at the visuals even more so), I think I imagine V to look like a Hugo-esque person anyway.
Which certainly isn't a bad thing, for me anyway.

Good point.
But, it's worth remembering that in the GN he isn't deformed or disfigured at all, he just chooses not to ever be anything but the mask itself and the ideals it represents..
I read the GN too, but I was always confused on this part. Is V's face really seen or was she using her imagination? Evey seems to go through this "what will I do and how will I react when I see his face" bit in several ways (I don't have the GN in front of me right now so I can't quote).
SPOILER GN SPOILER GN It's as if the face changes with each scenario until she sees her own.
Maybe someone can clear that up for me please?

Re: Confession Time!
Yes, I would be curious about what he looked like, but no I would not want to see. It's so much better to imagine what it would be.
I was so afraid they were going to show his face in the movie and it would be worse the Freddy Kruger! I'm glad they didn't!

Re: Confession Time!
Wow, everyone is unanimous on this so far (except for me, I should change my name to Pandora).
Do you think any 'real' chaps ever have a chance with any of you then? As it seems the ideal man might be the one you never really see in case he doesn't live up to the one in your head...

I don't think it would be possible! No reality is ever as good as a fantasy!

Re: Confession Time!
What would be worse: if he was terribly scarred underneath (as the film suggested) or if he was just very, very plain?
...Do you think it's a case of 'lovable until proven ugly'?
(And we're supposed to be the gender that's not so hung up on looks, ha ha!)

Sir, get thee to a costume shop.
It's guaranteed: don a Fawkes mask and you'll get more splendid women than you can shake your fireworks at.
