Re: Confession Time!
I wouldn't want to see under the mask. As mentioned before the mask does have an "attractive" appearance, plus the mystery is fantastic, there is so much appeal on not knowing.
My fear would be that if I saw what was under the mask then V would be just an "ordinary" man, when in fact the character is so much more than any single man could ever be. Does that make sense....trying to put in to words correctly.
For me the mystery is everything....it makes him so much more than just a human man (I have a wonderful one of those already...lol) it makes him incredibly special.

If on the dvd there was an extra scene with him removing his mask - would you want to see it??
(And could he ever live up to our expetations? eek)
Hmm...That is something to think about, isn't it? I Don't think I'd want to see him with his mask off...His Anonymousness lets you put anybody under the mask and body armour....Say your boyfriend or Husband....I say it's good to leave something to the imagination

Re: Confession Time!
I agree, Soleil. It's a bit like visualization exercises I've heard - the ones that are too specific (i.e. describing exactly what you should be "seeing"), I have a hard time getting into. But if it's described in general terms and you're allowed/expected to "fill in the gaps" from your own experience (also known as the "utilization principle"), the exercise can be sooo much more compelling.
Likewise: If They provide us with a face - a certain actor - some of the audience will be drawn to him, some won't (personally, I don't actually find Hugo attractive, though his V-voice is delicious). By keeping him hidden, we can imagine him to look like whatever is most attractive to us - thus, we can all enjoy to equal measure.

Re: Confession Time!
I've always felt that under the mask is the same face, humanized, mobile, but recognizably the same; the face of which the mask is a portrait.
I'm not sure why, since it's not supported by any evidence in the movie. Perhaps it's just what I wish for.
