Re: Hugo weaving behind the mask
That lovely leap over the roof? Stuntman. Which is a shame. And the most 'balletic' of knife fights, all the big ones anyway, stuntman. And a few scenes are still with the former V James Purefoy, but I don't know which.

Re: Hugo weaving behind the mask
I think he felt suffocated or claustraphobic behind the mask, as well as being unable to perform happily through it. He is a good actor though, and to see him looking particularly fine it's worth watching A Knight's Tale as he's devilishly lovely as the Black Prince.
(Though 'Chaucer' is the King in cute stakes )

Re: Hugo weaving behind the mask
I've read two different reasons the first actor left. One review said "creative differences," the other said he couldn't stand the mask. Apparently, they kept the footage, and dubbed Hugo-baby's voice over it.

Re: Hugo weaving behind the mask
There's a part during the beginning, before V's V speech where he seems unusually motionless - I wonder if that was Mr Purefoy. I think unless the actor is prepared to speak almost entirely with body language then he could be replaced with a tailor's mannequin of the right height and dubbed later..

Re: Hugo weaving behind the mask
Dear Bohwea,
I surely believe most fight scenes (and certainly the famous sliding on the roof) were carried out by stuntmen. However, I was watching the making of the other day, and I was startled to see a rehearsal of the final fight scene on the train station, in which Hugo was actually doing all the movements without the mask, of course. It looked very awesome, it was like they were rehearsing a choreography. I guess we will never know until the DVD comes out, and even then..

Re: Hugo weaving behind the mask
VandEvey I read that too. It was from the IMDB.com site. I also got the impression the guy was right. He mentioned that the acting in the first few scenes seemed kind of stiff, and more theatrical--cold almost--reminds me more of what the GN V would be like--not as natural as when Weaving took over. I tend to agree with him.
I like Weaving's stunt double as well. If you watch the little clips on the V4V site, they show him unmasked....He's cuuuute

Re: Hugo weaving behind the mask
Yeah, it was stiff. And then the rest of the movie he moves and acts differently. I'm really glad that's the only Purefoy scene because I love Hugo's performance so much! Also...
HELP! I can't get my signature and avatar pictures to show up! Please someone help me.
