Re: Heath Ledger

The autopsy report for Heath Ledger shows that his death was from an overdose of prescription drugs.

http://www.cnn.com/2008/SHOWBIZ/Movies/02/06/heath.ledger/index.html

The list, according to CNN:

• Oxycodone -- narcotic/painkiller; trade names: OxyContin, Percodan
• Hydrocodone -- narcotic/painkiller; trade name (combined with acetaminophen): Vicodin
• Diazepam -- anti-anxiety drug; trade name: Valium
• Alprazolam -- anti-anxiety drug; trade name: Xanax
• Doxylamine -- sleep medication; trade name: Unisom
• Temazepam -- sleep medication; trade name: Restoril

"The combination of drugs could cause the brain and brain stem to "fall asleep," halting heart and lung function."

*shudder* This is why I don't take sleeping pills (I don't even take Benadryl, the antihistamine that can induce sleep), don't take narcotics (like the "codones" or any others), and don't take medications like Xanax or Valium.

I don't want drugs putting my brain to sleep, is what it boils down to. If I can kill chronic pain enough via Relafen (or Advil, a similar drug) and moderate Tylenol to sleep naturally, I'll accept that reluctantly, even if I don't like it. (My chiropractor said "I wish you could take more types of medications for pain" and I said "I can't." The unspoken answer was "I won't. Pain or no pain.") emoticon

I feel so much for Ledger and his family. Being a person who had a terrible reaction to a prescription medication, which could have killed me, drug reactions scare me so badly...and reading about accidental overdose just makes me feel ill to think about it.

I'll continue praying for Heath's memory and his family/friends, too!
