Hugo Weaving films
Is anyone else been having their own little HW film fest?
(I LOVE NETFLIX!)
I recently saw Little Fish.
Who seen this? what did you think?

Re: Hugo Weaving films
Well, being a rather firm fan of his, I have a collection of his films going, but I wouldn't say I'm having a "film fest." (Although it isn't a bad idea, and I've done it in the past. Mood I'm in, Priscilla just might make me laugh a bit, which would be good.)
No, I haven't seen Little Fish yet, but would like to. Isn't it coming out in the States on vid soon? I'll have to look into snagging a copy of my own.

I'm not sure about vid/DVD, but I know you can (legally) download it from CinemaNow.com... They charge $2.99-3.99 for a 24-hour rental.

Got it, haven't slowed down long enough to watch it.
Whyfor? something in particular I should look for?

Re: Hugo Weaving films
I got Little Fish from Netflix, and not to disuade anyone from seeing it, but HW plays a TRAGIC character... It was painful to watch, actually. maybe it hit me at a time when I just couldnt take a story about the miserable decline of ordinary ****ed-up humans, and I should see it again when I have more af a cinema-buff persepective.
I have Priscilla in house now, and what a hoot! I didnt realize he was in this! I must need the levity, not the grim reality, a' moment. So, I will enjoy this one for a while.
I love netflix - I live just beyond the cable's reach, and havent sprung for satellite, and find that this way, I watch EXACTLY what I am interested in, and no mindless dreck and surfing. I do miss a few TV things, but not much.
Proof... wonderful wonderful little movie.

Re: Hugo Weaving films
quote: the finest portrayal of a blind man by a sighted actor that I have ever seen
Okay, will have to take a look, if for no other reason than I've had to play a blind person on stage before, and it was quite a little experience to do. I'll be curious to see how he performs it.
The director, as an exercise, took me out in the parking lot of the rehearsal hall at night, blindfolded me, then turned me around several times and turned me loose. I had to find my way across the lot and back inside the rehearsal hall unaided. They did put someone to watch me, to make sure I didn't hurt myself or wander into the street. That turned out to be a very profound experience.
And interestingly enough, it seems to have permanently colored my experience of the role. My character started the play sighted, then lost sight for the last act. I honestly remember very little VISUAL sensory input from the last act of that play. A couple of mental "snapshots" are about the extent of it.
I'll try to get a look at Proof sometime in the next week. I should have done it long since, but life keeps getting in the way.
Yes, his character in Little Fish is a tragic one, from all I've heard. I think perhaps it's better if I wait for a bit to watch it; current mood is not conducive to a downer, I suspect
