Val, I'm with you, Tamlin needs her "education" upgraded by Matrixology.

Seriously, I think there are important issues of philosophy which that film addresses, and EVERYONE should see it. (This, from the woman who once said that everyone should be forced at gunpoint to see Bowling for Columbine! LOL)

So, Val, how about you drop in at Clearwell (my home-in-the-swamp-forest, near DC) in Sept. while Leda is here visiting?

Oh sweetie, I would love to, but I dunno if I can. I'm unemployed and gasoline is expensive.

But just to duly consider the matter, what are the dates? And would you have a spare bedroom for me?

I saw Little Fish, but wasn't that impressed with the movie. Hugo did a good job of acting his tragic character.

Today I was in the video store and noticed a new movie with him in it. It's called "Peaches" and the story line looks kind of interesting. It's a coming of age story about a girl who searches for her family and its past. It's on my list to see.

Yeah, that's another interesting one that I haven't gotten my hands on yet. Again his character isn't the most sterling, from what I've heard, but interesting nevertheless.

I wanna know how folks are getting their hands on these! I haven't heard of either Little Fish or Peaches being released in the States yet. *makes jealous face and turns red* LOL

Ven, PM me with the information, because if I CAN, I'd love to.

I'd PM you, but thought others might also want to know where you can get these DVD's. I saw both of them at my local Hollywood Video store here in Denver. Also, I imagine Netflix would have it as well.

I just saw The Interview today, and all red-blooded Hugo fans must see this one. Made in 1998, it is a shadowy stylish mystery that starts with the cops breaking down his door and hauling him off for interogation. It seems to have lots of little echoes of matrix and V in it, - the monochromatic colour and gloom, the oppressive corrupt cops. Quite an interesting little movie, and lots of Hugo performance to savour!

The final shot is worth the price of admission... a smile, worthy of emoticon

Re: Hugo Weaving films

I recently viewed Proof (brilliant!) and Bedrooms and Hallways (hilarious!)

Proof was an interesting film, based on a rather unusual plotline. I think this is the earliest role I've seen Russell Crowe in, too (such a baby-face!). Oh, and I haaaated that ***** of a housekeeper...... what a psycho she was. Oddly enough, Netflix listed this film under Comedies, which it certainly is not. emoticon

For a true comedy, watch Bedrooms and Hallways, it's fabulous! Hugo doesn't have a large part in this one, but, ummm, you still see plenty of him in it! emoticon

I rewatched Priscilla... about a month or so ago. I'd forgotten how good that movie was (kinda weird, too). Terence Stamp and the guy who falls for his character (can't remember his or his character's name now) were great together, very believable. And the Asian woman who played his mail-order bride was wickedly funny! emoticon Most memorable line? "A **** in a frock on a rock." emoticon

I love that film to bits; and it's amazing how many lines I remember for something I've only watched once!
