Individual songs From the Movies
Did you notice that each of the movies has at least one individual song that is quite different from the rest of the music, and yet fits in perfectly?
For example, The Fellowship had Enya singing "May It Be," a beautiful song about the quest Frodo has been given to get the ring to Mordor and destroy it.
The Two Towers had "Gollum's Song," a hauntingly beautiful song about Smeagol, who became Gollum, and his personal battle with the ring's evilness and how that very evilness has affected and changed him.
I have not been able to listen to The Return of The King soundtrack at all yet (my son is hogging it), so I can't talk about the song Jackson picked to be sung for the last movie. I know my son loves it though, and since he has a great ear for music, it must be good! Somehow Jackson and Shore always have chosen the perfect songs to reflect that particular movie and the general theme and mood of it. Of course, the songs are no good without the perfect performer to sing it. I don't thank any other performer would have been able to sing those songs so perfectly.
(forgive me for using the word "perfectly" so much. I guess I need to expand my vocabulary a bit, but the word just seemed to fit "perfectly" at the time!)

Annie Lennox sings it. Just a few verses I've memorized...actually, I've memorized the whole song, but you get my drift.

I LOVE THAT SONG!!!!!
I've heard it so many times it repeats in my head all day! The song's words are perfect for the ending too. Did you notice the words and what they were talking about? You know whats in the west right?

Yes.  I was reading RotK today (lol) and I saw some words/phrases from the song in the book. I was like, 'cool!'

Morwen, you'll be happy to learn that Howard won Golden Globe Awards for Original Song - "Into The West" AND for Original Score for RoTK. He's also been nominated for Oscars in the same categories. Yay!

Ah, yes. I love all those songs. Into the West was beautiful. I'm always singing that to myself. That is, when I'm not singing Gollum's Song or May it Be, but it's mostly Into the West...
