Pippin & Merry
Here's one of my favorite scenes in The Two Towers. It's only in the extended version and it's at the end, after Isengard has been done in by the Ents. Merry and Pippin are standing waist deep in water looking toward Orthanc (the tower) when this scene begins:
quote:
Saruman: *Looking frantically out from the balcony of Orthanc*
Merry: "He doesn't look too happy does he?"
Pippin: "Not too happy at all Merry."
Merry: "Still, I suppose the view would be quite nice from up there."
Pippin: "Oh yes, it's a quality establishment. I hear the staff are very good."
Merry: *Using his hand to compare his height with that of Pippin*
Pippen: *Looking around behind him*
"What are you doing?"
Merry: "Nothing. The world's back to normal, that's all."
Pippin: No it isn't. I'm starving."
Merry: "Good luck finding something decent to eat around here. Probably only dead rats and moldy bread."
Pippin: ** Suddenly sees an apple float by. He grabs it, smiles - looking up toward the sky wondering - then sees another apple and grabs it. He wades through the water after a whole line of apples, grabbing them as he goes when he suddenly sees a turkey floating by. He drops the apples and grabs the turkey, then spies a wicker basket filled with apples. He puts the turkey in the basket, laughing at his good fortune at finding all of this food. He continues to follow the trail of food straight into a storage room filled with food and tobacco! **
-- Great scene! One question though. Where did the cooked turkey come from? It looked like a turkey that came straight from someone's Thanksgiving meal. But more interestingly, how was it floating in the water? Have you ever seen a 14 lb turkey float? I don't think so!
