One of the Battles of The Century!
Awesome battle, great special effects, fantastic stuntmen [see my comments under TTT (the movie) - memories of TTT]! What more can one say?
Considering it took four months to shoot this battle, at night, with water being sprinkled on the actors, cool weather, tired people, it is a truly incredible scene! But then again, battle scenes are PJ's favorite thing!
The thing I didn't like about this scene is that PJ had the elves come to represent Elrond of Rivendell. Totally wrong, completely against the book!!! Elrond would never have sent elves to war to honor the old alliance between men and elves. Not only that, but PJ had Haldir leading the group, and he's from Lothlorien - NOT Rivendell! And it stinks that PJ killed off Haldir in that battle. PJ figured he needed someone to die that people cared about, and he couldn't kill off any of the main actors, so he killed off Haldir. In case you don't remember, Haldir was introduced in the Fellowship when the nine went to Lothlorien. Haldir was one of the elves who stopped the group just after they entered the woods and then led them to Galadriel.
And, of course, how can I forget the part where Gandalf the White stands upon the mountain riding the best horse in the world - Shadowfax! Gandalf then comes charging down the hill with 2000 Eorlingas behind him, and just before Gandalf gets to the Urukhais, he shines brilliant white light into their eyes, blinding them - then charges through the Urukhais, slicing and dicing all the way! 
Overall, I love this battle scene - it was just incredible, even if there are a few things about it I didn't care for.
Anyone else got an opinion?!
