Thoughts on Independence Day, 2007

The REASON for this National Holiday day is to remember and celebrate the fact that OUR OWN greatly-outnumbered and lesser-equipped ACTUAL Freedom Fighters -- ALTHOUGH having been considered, named and treated as, at the least “tax-evaders” and “ingrates” and at the most “revolutionists,” “traitors,” “turncoats,” “terrorists,” “extremists,” “guerillas,” “insurgents,” “fanatics” and worse, by the governors and the majority of the ENGLISH EMPIRE -- had PREVAILED against all odds, in their certainty that theirs was a noble cause worth BOTH killing and dying for, since it was based in protest of and opposition to THEIR OPPRESSION in its various forms, by what had become a FOREIGN interest and force.

It is ALSO worthy of this annual celebration because the leadership of the VICTORS had taken almost-immediate measures to ENSURE that they themselves, along with all whom would succeed them, WOULD NOT emulate the principles and practices of the LEADERS of the KINGDOM from whom they had wrested their “God-given and inaliable RIGHTS” as members of “the EQUAL brotherhood of Human Beings in the World”.

Unfortunately but truly, “Power corrupts, and absolute power absolutely corrupts,” which axiom had slowly but surely taken rise among the long string of SUCCESSORS to those whom had thoughtfully and carefully framed the wording and spirit of the United States Constitution with its Preamble and Bill of Rights, to the current degree that a sitting President had audaciously referred to this, finest of all recorded documents, as “just a goddammed piece of paper”.

More unfortunately and equally truly, under the succeeding leaderships from those of the Founding Fathers, our yet-great and yet-powerful “nation above all nations” had, slowly but surely, BECOME what we once ABHORRED, which is the enemy rather than the champion of the poor, innocent, down-trodden and oppressed peoples of OTHER lands.

And so, as we unanimously cheer, celebrate and enjoy THIS “4th of July Independence Day,” let us ALSO UNANIMOUSLY hope, wish and pray that this WILL NOT be the last or near-last OF them.

Nonetheless, I wish to all of you, of all political, ideological, religious and financial persuasions, in your respective stances with regard to the ongoing and expanding involvement of America, in the ongoing and expansion of the wars in the Middle East, this greeting and salutation:

---------- HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY 2007! ----------

Intrepid Chief Sarandos,

As evidenced by the view-count stats, I along with many others are still checking-in mostly daily, are still in mutual agreement with you, and are still "spreading your fame" by referring others to your writings.

Please chalk-up the scarcity of recent posts by others and me to the fact that all of us, like you, are in the phase of "watching and waiting" as the turns of current events appear to be exactly following your wise prognostications (or predictions) toward the onset of a third world war.

Happy 4th of July to you and yours, as well as to the rest of your "fans".

Greg

Joseph,

Since you didn't include a source for this article, which is your normal practice, I reasonably assume that you had authored it, even though you'd also omitted your usual practice of "signing" it.

I'm in full agreement with Greg and Bob on all counts.
