Joseph Sarandos, USAFsarge and I are NOT ALONE as vets against the M-E Wars
There are other organizations of wartime veterans who are actively opposed to and speaking-out against the involvement of American troops in the Mid-East Wars (especially in the Vietnam-like quagmire of Iraq), but this is probably the oldest and most influential of them;
VETERANS FOR PEACE

What is Veterans For Peace?
Veterans For Peace is a national organization founded in 1985. It is structured around a national office in Saint Louis, MO and comprised of members across the country organized in chapters or as at-large members. There is an annual convention in August for members from across the nation. Members receive periodic VFP publications.
The organization includes men and women veterans from World War II, Korea, Vietnam, the Gulf War, other conflicts and peacetime veterans. Our collective experience tells us wars are easy to start and hard to stop and that those hurt are often the innocent. Thus, other means of problem solving are necessary.
Veterans For Peace is an official Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) represented at the UN.
Whether or not you wish to participate in chapter activities, please consider becoming a Veteran For Peace member. As an organization, we are what our members make us. You can be part of that effort. Help us put an end to war.
We draw on our personal experiences and perspectives gained as veterans to raise public awareness of the true costs and consequences of militarism and war - and to seek peaceful, effective alternatives.

Re: Joseph Sarandos, USAFsarge and I are NOT ALONE as vets against the M-E Wars
Incog4 (Aaron),
I am one of many vets who've been following the writings of Chief Sarandos on the internet, and while I cannot say that I whole-heartedly agree with all of his philosophies and ideologies (some of which I can't fully understand, or I have no interest in), I can and will say that his and your stances with regard to the Middle East situation and America's involvement therein are identical to my own, and are identical to every member of our organization.
Each and every voice counts in the effort to sway President Bush from his current course of actions leading to disaster for America...personal politics and ethnic heritages notwithstanding.
I am not an officer of our organization, so I will not publicly name it as "officially" supporting Chief Sarandos and you, but I will be glad to tell you (and solicit your membership) via the Private Message or Email options in this web site.
To Chief Sarandos and you, I say keep up the good work and ignore your detractors. There are very far more of us with you than against you.
Glad to meet you if only virtually,
Greg
A Nam Vet, too.

A Nam Vet, too.
Thanks for that, Greg.
I also follow what goes on in your web site and others like it, as I'm sure Bush's spies do. It's just a rotten shame that hearing our voices "pisses off" our intrepid leader instead of bringing him back to reality and adherence to the Constitution. But at least it lets him and the world know that he doesn't have our mandate and approval for what he's doing for Israel in the name of the American People.
BTW, that's a great username! I'd registered in sort of a hurry, or else I would have been "NamVet" instead of "Incog4" in this board.
Let's stay in e-mail contact.
A brisk hand-salute and best regards to you,
Aaron
P.S. "Chief Sarandos" is indisposed at the VA Clinic for I don't know how long today (just updating his shots and stuff, but he used Transport instead of driving), and I happen to have the day off. I'm sure that he'll "officially" as well as personally greet and welcome you when he gets online.

Greg,
The sudden and substantial leap in Views of this thread, to over 70 in only one day (probably some sort of record so far), speaks volumes in and of itself.
Obviously, there are other members of your group who've come to read your very kind contribution to it.
Thanks,
Joseph

I'm happy to have been of such small service, Chief.
As always, lots of what you write anywhere is copied verbatim and disseminated by non-monitored Email.
You keep writing and we'll keep reading.
Best luck to you,
Greg

Greg,
I'd bet that if we traded the true names and addresses on our respective E-mail rings, we'd find duplicates among them, especially among the ones who don't rely on Hotmail, Yahoo, or other "mainstream" E-mail services.
Like yours and theirs, my "insider" E-mail service and address are securely encrypted against monitoring or hacking, even though the bulk of initial contacts with me are made via my Hotmail account.
Don't worry, I'll keep writing, even if it comes down to using only secure E-mails, for as long as I feel that it's necessary and useful.
BTW, please call me Joseph instead of Chief, since I didn't retire from the Navy, but took an Honorable after just over 10 years. All I am is an injured (not wounded) war-times Vet who happened to have made Chief in a short time.
Spread my best regards among your friends,
Joseph

Re: Joseph Sarandos, USAFsarge and I are NOT ALONE as vets against the M-E Wars
Greg,
As Joseph knows and understands, my job and my mortgage keep me from using my full name on the net.
I'll add that I'd be glad to join dissident organizations such as yours were it not for the same considerations.
Besides, I'd have to be a much nicer guy when standing-in and standing-up for Joseph in other boards!
Aaron
P.S. Thank your associates for the climbing views of this thread and some others in this board, and for spreading our words via e-mail.

Re: Joseph Sarandos, USAFsarge and I are NOT ALONE as vets against the M-E Wars
Referring to the thread at
http://com3.runboard.com/btheowlsnest.fthemiddleeastwars.t19
There is a list of 6 recently retired generals who are now speaking out against Bush's handling of the Iraq war.
People who aren't familiar with the laws, rules, regulations and policies of the U.S. Military might question why this top brass had waited until now to criticize the Commander In Chief, but it boils down to the same reason that us veterans are able to speak out while those who are still on active duty are not. This is also the reason why us vets and retired officers should speak out in such regards, which is because we are not subject to the direct and harsh disciplinary actions that can be meted out to those on active duty.
This is the same for active members of a president's administration, card-carrying members of a president's political party, and government employees.
Therefore, when you hear the views of retired politicians, retired Military Officers and retired veterans, you should take such views as being representative of tens of thousands more who cannot express their personal feelings and beliefs in opposition to the decisions and actions of the standing Civilian administrations.
IOW, these factors lend further credence to the title of this widely-viewed thread; "Joseph Sarandos, USAFsarge and I are NOT ALONE..."
I contend that we represent the majority of men and women whose opposing views are currently stifled by the laws, rules, regulations and policies.
