Owl and Gronk, I was going to tell you this myself,
but Aaron had put it as succinctly as possible in the USC board, as I'll copy/paste verbatim from there:

Chorny,
Although Mister Sarandos wanted me to "hold it close to my chest" while it was happening, I am now free to explain that his relative absence from the www for the last few days was because his youngest grandson was in the hospital with a very serious and life-threatening respiratory disease that is rampant in our area of California, and which seriously affects mostly children below the age of 6 months.
However, the worst is over and his grandson was released from the hospital just this afternoon (PST), so I expect that J/S will be back on the computer more often once he "catches up" on the missed time with his daughter and her sons.
Unfortunately, he is still barred by N54 because of the multiple compaints by Strelnikov, so he won't be posting here in USC, and of course he remains banned from Pravda, but he wanted me to pass along his best wishes and regards to you.
Aaron
========================================
All I can add is that baby Adam is doing just fine now, and all worries about him by all of us are over, thank God.
I'm not quite done with "making up for lost time" with my family, and my mind is not quite back into "battling the internet ghosts," but I'm getting there on both counts.
Aaron has been doing "better than good" on his own while I was distracted, and his wife and him both visited and stayed in telephone contact with my wife and me during this ordeal.
So far, none of the many local babies who contracted this disease have died from it, for which I also thank God.
The bright spot was that Timmy spent 2 whole days and nights at our house, and that he had as much fun with us as we did with him. We bought him a new bunny, and that also helped to keep his mind off of his little brother being in the hated hospital.
Joseph
EDIT was to try shortening the width of the USC link and thereby the width of this post.

Re: Owl and Gronk, I was going to tell you this myself,
It's nice to hear the little one is doing better Joe. Good luck and I hope he stays well.
My sons youngest daughter was probably the first kid I ever saw who didn't like me. That child was scared to death of me for some strange reason.
She ended up spending X-mas in Hospitol when she was about two. My son lived in her room for days until I made him go home to get some rest, promising that I would stay with her till he was back.
That poor girl woke up in that tent and saw "no daddy" around. That was the first time Grampa was okay for her. She stuck her arms out to me and I held her and let her sleep on my lap.
Little ones can scare the hell out of us, yet their resiliancy is remarkable.
Gronk took ill as a baby and literally died in hospitol three different times. I was going crazy yet her mother was the rock at that time. As you can see, Gronk is still around tp drive me crazy. So is Sabre the grandaughtr.LOL

I'm so glad to hear that Adam is alright!! It's pretty scary when things happen like that to the little ones. When my son was just a baby the hubby and I had to take him to the hospital because he couldn't breathe properly. He had come down with a slight cold, but due to his weakened immune system he'd ended up with a lung infection. The worry you can go through is horendous. Now, go enjoy the time with your family!
hugs to you and yours
Gronk
Gronk,
From what you described, it sounds like your baby boy had the same, or very similar, as did my daughter's baby boy.
So, your Dad and you perfectly understand what we went through in the way of worried helplessness, while the baby got much worse before getting better, and also the same relief that we are now so much enjoying.
Speaking of family time, both boys just came in with my daughter, so I'm going off-computer until late this evening.
Thanks for the extra cheer, you two!
Joseph

Well, I thank you very much also.
Anyone (like you) who has true caring for babies who are not related to him/her, or for babies who are not related to his/her real-life or online friends, has got to be a good person at heart.
This little one has pulled all the way through the illness, and the only signs left are the tiny marks from the IV-needles. He is so glad to be out of the hospital that he smiles and flirts twice as much as before he went in!

Glad to hear your grandson is doing well. If you don't mind my asking, what was this disease he had?.

I'm a little too sleepy to remember the exact initials, but it was something like "RVP," amounting to a very serious respiratory disease especially for babies under 6 months old.
I'll ask my wife or daughter later today, and edit this with the right information.
Thanks for the well wishes. The little guy is just fine now.

Re: Owl and Gronk, I was going to tell you this myself,
I was an Ambulance Medic when Gronk was in hospitol as a baby. The last time she literally died I had just arrived with a heart attack patient. The Staff knew me of course and the calls went to the emergency desk just in case I was there.
I walked through the doors with the stretcher and the desk attendent told me the news.
Want to know how hard it is to "NOT" leave a patient at a time like that. That moment it took to get him onto a hospitol stretcher was probably the longest moment of my life.
But it all worked out in the end.
Gronk was a special case. Her digestive system hadn't developed and she was starving to death on just milk, but could not have food of any kind.
From almost her first breath she was a problem because she was hungry as she got little value from the Infilac or whatever babys milk is called.
When it was at its worst, her mother and I had about ten hours sleep between us in days. I was on twenty four hour call and often got called during the night if there were too many calls to handle, or big accidents, so my sleep , or lack of was getting the best of me eventually.
Poor Gronk was crying, I was trying to catch a much needed nap and finally I just screamed that someone has to do something.
The doctor said by phone to try a teaspoon of pablum in her bottle. It worked, she went to sleep, as did both my wife and I.LOL
But having food is what ended up putting her in hospitol where we lost her those three times.
She sure is a healthy old goat today though.
Thank God.
