I'll re-post this shot of the Sierras from my driveway
Everything is real except the "lake" that I added to cover up a stubbled cornfield and, of course, the matting and frame that I custom-made for it. The mountains are this clearly visible only after hard rainfalls, and they're farther away than it seems. It takes around 45 minutes to drive to just the foothills on the freeway, and then it's mostly a narrow and winding road at slow speed up to the snow-line, but very beautiful all the way up, especially through the Redwood tree forests. The Sierras are east of us. Unfortunately, now there is a row of new houses along our side of the once-cornfield. I have other similar pictures from other years, but I shot this one exactly 4 years ago from yesterday, with my Nikon digital.
