Light gray eyes, that sparkled with life and warmth looked at her openly, although not overly long, as was custom. He grinned jovially as he heard the words of the young woman that stood in front of him: "Rayna has sent us more than one customers, " he said friendly. "What ails your brother? Can you describe any symptoms, as we cannot send the medicine before we know the sickness."

"Headache," Valerie said promptly, for the man's questions were no different from those she'd been asking Valente for days. "Bad enough that he's belly sick but no fever and … it's not getting better, after near on two weeks."

"I thought some white-leaf," she said. "for his head. And the - and the dreams too."

Valente would hate it, if he knew she was airing their problems with strangers like this but - he wasn't here and that was the problem wasn't it? "He had a fight, my brother, before we left but he's got a hard head and if his brains had knocked lose it would have gotten better - or worse - by now, wouldn't it?"

The two young tower - workers looked at each other. What do you think, Aran?, the girl asked.

I don't like the sound of these dreams , Dori, , Aran answered. Then he looked friendly at the young woman in front of him. She looked common enough - middle size, brown curly hair - no hint of Comyn red. But Aran was fairly sure that the symptoms, she described were part of the long catalogue of physical reaction to the awakening of Laran.

Finally he answered: "Forgive me for staring at you so openly, I didn't mean to do you a disgrace, Mestra." Seriously he continued: "I think, somebody aught to take a closer look at your brother. Unfortunately we cannot leave the square - we must sell these herbs." In reference to her request for white-leaf, Aran continued. "I doubt that whiteleaf, would help in this case anyway." Frowning Aran turned to Dorilys: "Is Eddard involved in anything today?"

The girl answered: "Not that I know of. He might be on the road with Priscilla on such a nice day, but let's hope he is not too far away. It might be useful if she comes along anyway."

"Indeed, Breda, indeed. Well, you are the stronger telepath and might be able to reach the two." And remind them to bring some Kiriseth, who knows what we have here ..

Outwardly the girl moved not a muscle in her face but Aran definitely got a feeling of her nodding. No worries ..You take care of this poor woman, she likely has no idea of what is happening.

Instead of an answer Aran turned to Valerie again: "Don't you be worried, Mestra ... What is your name anyway and your brother's? We will inform one of our best Healers and his assistant to look after your brother. I am sure they won't have anything against it."

In the meantime the girl Dorilys retired into the small tent next to the stall to allow her a bit privacy from the crowd that stared at them curiously. She took out her matrix and conceentrated on it and pictured Eddard and Priscilla in her mind, together with her thoughts Eddard? Its Dorilys on the market ..We got some work for you and your lady. Are you available at the moment?

ooc: I assume that Dorilys talks about five minutes with Eddard and Patricia and then its maybe another fifteen minutes until the two arrive so feel free to answer to Aran in the mean time

in character

After Dorilys had finished her conversation with Eddard and Patricia, she quickly ate a hand of dried fruits and returned to Aran. "They' ll be here as quickly as they can. I just got them before they left for the mountains."

She smiled comfortingly at Valerie: "Don't you worry, young mestra. They are coming and your brother will be all right."

Unfortunately we cannot leave the square - we must sell these herbs." In reference to her request for white-leaf, Aran continued. "I doubt that whiteleaf, would help in this case anyway."

"I - I," Valerie stuttered then took a deep breath and started again. "I'm greatful, via dom, but surely it's too much trouble."

But they weren't listening to her, instead staring silent and distant until the woman turned and went inside a small awning behind the stall. That the two Comyn born took her worries so quickly to heart sent her own fears skyrocketing. What if Valente had gotten sicker while she was running errands? What if she was somehow the cause - her ambitions to be more than a house-wife, her faith in her brother's loyalty. She'd dragged him away from the sea, from what he knew and now he was sick enough that the Tower folks were worried.

"Don't you be worried, Mestra ... What is your name anyway and your brother's? We will inform one of our best Healers and his assistant to look after your brother. I am sure they won't have anything against it."

"I'm Valerie of Dalereuth and my brother is Valente," she said uneasily, gripping her bag of mostly forgotten bread. "We're new to the city, up from the sea, with no family here. Is he so sick then? My brother's hard headed and unlikely to dreams or lay-about but neither of us are used to the inlands. Perhaps it's nothing more -"

She trailed off under the friendly but confident gaze of the Tower workers. They would do as they will, in the manner of the Comyn and if they felt her brother should trouble them, nothing she could say would change that.

"Don't you worry, young mestra. They are coming and your brother will be all right."

"Thank you, via domnya."

Beneath the worry for her brother, fed by the attention fo the tower workers, was the fear that the noble born would somehow sense her secrets; fled from her lawful husband and dragging her brother along at her side.

A minute later the two left the tower again and banned their way through the crowded streets. Finally they had to dismount and lead their horses over the market square to where Aran and Dorilys had their stall.

Aran smiled at Valerie. "Don't be afraid of us, - we are familiar with the predjudices of town- and countryfolk."

Then he saw that Eddard and Patricia cleared their way through the crowd on the market. Finally they stood all, man and horses in front of Valerie.

Eddard bowed slightly to her and grinned informally at Aran and Dorilys. Patricia smiled sympathetically at Valerie: It was her who adressed the young woman: "Ben dia, mestra. I assume you are the one whose brother is ill?"

Aran smiled at Valerie. "Don't be afraid of us, - we are familiar with the prejudices of town- and countryfolk."

Valerie nodded nervously, realizing with some dismay that the ruckus heading their way must be the healer, somehow summoned to the market. They dismounted in a sweep of expensive summer fabric; a beautiful woman and strikingly handsome man with sharp blue-gray eyes and vividly red hair. The market crowd had parted for them like the sea from the prow of a racing boat and Valerie was sure the gossip was already spreading. The man bowed to her, startling a curtsey out of Valerie.

"Ben dia, mestra. I assume you are the one whose brother is ill?"

"Aye, that's so," Valerie stammered. Again, she explained they were newly arrived, worry threading her story as she talked about her brother's persistent headaches and inexplicable disorientation. "The guesthouse is not far, via dom'nya, but they have no stable."

Patricia answered: "We' ll leave the horses here then - I am sure the Renunciates will take them either to the tower or their guildhouse if we should need to stay with your brother for the night." Then she smiiled: "Forgive me, I haven't introduced myself - I am Patricia Alton, healer in Comyn tower, and that's my friend and monitor, Eddard Hastur."

Then she looked at Aran: "You see to the horses, will you, bredu?" Aran nooded his assent.

Eddard bowed slightly to Valeria: "Ben dia, young mestra. If you want to lead the way?"

She waited until the horses had been handed over and then led the way out of the market square, into the narrow streets of the city, with the noble Comyn trailing behind.
