Valente of Fairlyn

Name: Valente of Fairlyn
Age: 14 years (Darkovan, around 16 or so by Terranen count - not that he cares about that)
Description: Valente is a sturdy young man with reddish-brown hair falling into his eyes and brushing his shoulders, he needs a haircut. He has a square stubborn face, tanned skin and the calluses of a laborer on his hands. He's worked hard all his life and is healthy, fit and strong. Valente's eyes area startlingly pale silver-gray, unusual in a common born Darkovan. His clothes are much mended and workman-like, clearly styled according to the Alliard coastal fishermen and not suited to the cold winters of the highlands. He's got the kind of healthy good looks that those who work outdoors often have.
Laran: clairvoyance (primary), telepathy (secondary). He's not a strong telepath.
Friends/Enemies: Valente's best friend is his own twin sister Valerie. He has childhood friends back in Fairlyn and an extended family he's currently estranged from. Should Valerie's husband ever get hold of him, no doubt Gregi would show the boy why it's not right to steal away a man's wife.
Skills/Strengths/Weaknesses: He's been a fisherman since he could walk and done labor for hire as he could find it. He can sail, mend nets, rope, boats, houses, roads and so forth. He can fight with knife and fists but has never been trained with swords or noble weapons (nor, of course, distance weapons). He's strong for his age and relatively graceful. Commonborn, Valente cannot read, knows little of modern politics beyond rumor, has never ridden a horse though he can hold seat on a chervine or any of the kinds of fancy education that a Comyn might have. Right now, Valente is also suffering from threshold sickness as he's got some laran.
History: Valente was born in the Alliard Domain, near the sea of Dalereuth. He's a middle child in a large family, his mother is a widow and he - like most of his siblings - is nedestro. Only his oldest brother Miklai was born in wedlock. His mother collects and sells eatable seaweed, medicinal marsh herbs and salt, and takes her pleasures where she finds them. She often leaves her family for days or weeks at a time, Miklai, Valente and Valerie had to take care of their younger siblings; Mari, Lelli and the toddler Gabrin. Valente's mother is far from cruel, simply … careless, with her own reputation and the reputation of her family. Except for Miklai, none of the kids even know who their fathers are. Miklai arranged a marriage for Valerie, one she didn't want, she escaped from her husband two days after the wedding and the twins ran away from Fairlyn, heading to Thendara. What they'll do there … neither of them really know, especially with Valente coming down with some sickness.
