Earrly Morning - Preparations for the market
"Thank you, " Rayna n' ha Sherna said to one of her guild-sisters who had helped her reluctantly to pack bread, rolls and scone-like smaller bits and cakes in cardboxes and baskets. With a formless not the other woman disappeared in order to prepare the cart for Rayna. She sighed. Even now, after all these years, most of the renunciates hadn't lost their prejudices against street - urchins and pickpockets even though she had given up that "profession" at the tender age of thirteen. Melancholically Rayna pondered her life and thought that it had not been very kind to her. Well - after second thought she acknowledged she had been lucky after all. She could have landed in a brothel or being raped and killed. However, at times the young woman thought this would have been the best solution. Most sisters here had a story behind them, but usually it was suppression in marriage or a life as a Comynara they couldn't cope with. Some had fled here under danger of losing their life, but she had come on request of her mother ... Something else the sisters laughed behind their hands. So some time passed in melancholic silence.
After a while the woman who had helped her before came back and meant: "Hey Sherna, don't fall asleep again Let's take these boxes to the cart and then ye can have a bite to eat before ye set off."
Rayna blushed and stuttered: "Yes, Devra, I am coming .." and hastend to follow her. It took only a short time to load the vehicle and after a hasty cup of jaco , accompanied by some freshly baked bread and a warm porridge, the two Renunciates made their way to the market place.
--- And my drum will beat this day, pounding for the gaidheal. Oh, I do believe dust will turn the seed home
