The World - general overview
This game is set in the Recontact era – Terra discovers Darkover for the first time … again. Shattered Chain, The Winds of Darkover, Spell Sword and Forbidden Tower are books set in this time. Terrans think Darkovans are a primitive, violent people while Darkovans feel pretty much the same things about Terranans.
The time of the great laran weapons and powers is passed, many Towers are closed and the laran of the Comyn seems to be fading. There are those on Darkover who feel that the Terranan Federation is the path to the future, others who fear and dislike the foreigners and those who believe that Darkover’s unique qualities should be fiercely defended. All the Domains under Hastur rule strictly control the release of Terranan technology onto Darkover - much is forbidden. Aldaran is less stringent and radios, hand phones and even blasters can be found - for a price - in the Alderan Domain.
The Aldarans welcomed the Terranan ships and the first spaceport built was in Caer Donn, the largest city in the Aldaran Domain. Since then, Lorill Hastur, despite his general distaste for the Terranans, bargained to have a spaceport built in Thendara on the theory that it’s best to keep possible enemies close to hand. Thendara Spaceport grew and quickly outstripped Caer Donn for size and activity; Thendara is the city most used to Terranans and their ways on Darkover.
Most of the great Towers are empty or understaffed only Arilinn remains at full power under the elderly Keeper Leonie Hastur. Mostly, the Towers relay messages from city to city along with mining, training young telepaths and weather monitoring. The great activities; weather control, war mongering, controlling soil fertility and exploring the Overworld are mostly abandoned.
The Renunciates are a part of Darkovan society, though they have a somewhat shady reputation, and provide an outlet for young women who cannot live within the bounds of 'polite' Darkovan society. The Dry Town people stick to their own borders and no Terranan has yet to travel to Darkover's cold deserts.
We are not following the history of Darkover as set in the books, from the first post, this game will travel a different path to Darkovan's future. Come be part of it!
This game does not always follow MZB canon. Rather, just like MZB herself did in her work, I'll make minor changes to allow for the best stories and game balance.

Re: The World - general overview
Please, keep an eye on the correct spelling: Terranan, not Terranen; Lorill, not Lorril; Aldaran, not Alderan; Arilinn, not Arlin; Renunciates, not Rennunciates.
This is nitpicking, I know, but if you want to play in the Darkovan setting, do it with respect to the original works.

Re: The World - general overview
No problem. As I'm currently missing my Concordance, I don't have a centralized place to work from.
I'll make the correctlions as I get to them and, put in a note regarding the fact that htis is an alternative interpretation of MZBs Darkover.
I don't think misspellings show a lack of respect but the certianly don't reflect particularly well on my ability to spell
