About Role-Play
Always, always, respect your fellow players and treat them with courtesy. Don't bring outside or real life stress into the game - this is a refuge from all that! And, do not bring game issues into the rest of your (or anyone else's) life - this game isn't real!
This is a mature game, meaning there may be bad words, violence and even occasional (tasteful) sex. Please be mature yourselves. This isn't a place for wall to wall sex writing, or blood and guts everywhere - everything has it's place as part of a story. Please do not use pornographic icons or images on this board, unless you want to get banned.
Don't abandon a thread without letting your fellow players know. If a thread is in 'mid-scene' and you drop out for more than a week, the rest of the players can gently proxy your character and move on with the scene. There's an absences thread, use it.
If you are in a scene, please post every other day, minimum. More often is good too!
Do not put words or actions in the mouths of other player characters - the only exception is if the player has abandoned a thread without notice and a week has passed.
Do not kill, maim, cripple, destroy, overshadow, add or remove family, donas, birthmarks or children to other player characters without the players permission. For NPCs you didn't create - check with the owner of the NPC or the game moderator.
Personal threats against other players (RL), the moderator etc, or other obviously illegal type things will get you banned and, if necessary, prosecuted.

Re: About Role-Play
Some hints for posting ...
When replying to someone else's post - include the pertinent part (such as the dilogue) in quote: a quote box
and go on.
Rapport should be italic or possibly italice with ~bracketing the telepathic speech~
When you do something like try to hit a character, don't describe the result (that's up to the targeted character's player) but describe your *action*.
Alys sidestepped like a sword-dancer then snaked out a fist to tap Jiri's jaw. She didn't want to hurt him, just remind him that she wasn't helpless.
Now, it's up to Jiri's player to decide what kind of hit Alys got, if Jiri dodged or so forth.
When you move from one thread to another (say, you're going from Thendara Guild House to a thread set in Comyn Castle), please put a 'Cont in: (name of new thread)' at the bottom of your last post. That way people can follow your story!

Re: About Role-Play
Keeping in Time
We're going to use a rough time estimate to try and keep folks more or less in step with each other. The year will be divided up into Early Summer, Late Summer, Early Fall, Late Fall, Early Winter etc. The season will be noted at the top of the board, so everyone knows where were they are. Holidays will also be noted (Midwinter Week, Ghost Wind etc). The length of the season will depend partly on game play - each one will probably be a couple of months long.
For individual posts, please put a general time on the header, something like 'late night', 'mid-afternoon' and so forth. Going hour by hour slows the game down far too much, and leaving the time somewhat general allows people to move from thread to thread most easily.
To see the names of Darkovan times/seasons and so on, go to The World of Darkover
