 What does The Shine mean to you?
Ok, so I was driving through to Falkirk today in the pishing rain and thinking about the band.
I suppose we've all got our own thoughts about what The Shine means to each of us anf this might be an interesting way of airing it. Primarily this topic's for band members but anyone who's seen the band is free to comment too...
So I don't dominate things, I'll let you other reprobates go first!!

Well, for one thing, it means I can do all that stuff on stage and therefore probably not get arrested for it in any other context. A life without Shiney drumming would no doubt lead to the divorce court, according to Anita at least!

A suitably sublime statement there Iain - left me thinking "what the feck's he on about?"
OK, from my point of view - as we've all said from time to time - The Shine is the band I've always wanted to be in! I can't believe how much I enjoy being "up the front" after spending 25 years stuck at the back on bass. In my opinion, the band has grown considerably from my original aspirations of being a pretty good covers band - we're something pretty special!
In terms of personnel, I love playing with you guys. In any band there's usually a wee bit of friction with someone. Not this band in my opinion. We just gel and achieve new results without trying. I feel really comfortable. Also, we've got enough humour in the band that if anyone ****s up at any point, we laugh, we don't criticise! That's unique!! I also find playing with The Shine really supportive. There's none of this "that's my area" atitude - everyone just helps everyone else! Special credit to Andy in this regard for helping take me from a bedroom demo strummer to having the balls to front the band - couldn't have done it without you mate!!
All in all, I love this band - it's REALLY important to me!! I sometimes feel threatened or insecure but ony in that (1) I'm doing the best for everyone and (2) that we retain our position as one of the best on the circuit.
My final thought today was that we've got the chemistry and talent to really take the next step in ANY direction. It's just up to us to choose what that direction is....

OK. The Shine to me is a release, a chance to really be myself and do what I absolutely enjoy most (unless Natalie Portman decides to pay a visit, dressed like the Britney "One more time" video and agrees to be smothered in whipped cream) :hug:
Like Neil says, there is no agro and any little gripes we talk through. I look forward to every gig and they are as much a social occasion, and this band has most impotantly never felt like a job of work. Good band, good musicains good people.....let's nail 2007 to the ****ing wall!!!!!!
