Tony Sheridan threatens to boycott Liverpool Beatles Festival
On Saturday, Tony Sheridan threatened to refuse to perform at the Liverpool Beatles Festival Empire theater in which he is billed as performing onstage with the Quarrymen and Donovan because his picture is listed in the Beatles Cavern City tour Programme with the UK Union Jack flag instead of the Irish flag.
Tony spent two years entertaining the US troops in Vietnam, from 1967 to 1969, and was devastated by what he heard and the suffering by the American serviceman and Vietnamese civilians. Because of his experiences, Tony renounced his British citizenship in favor of Irish citizenship because of its support for the Vietnam war and other policies.
But Beatles fans were thrilled to learn that Tony would indeed perform.
Tony played on stage with just a drummer and another guitarist playing base. He had the audience on their feet rocking when he played "My Bonnie" and explained to the audience at the beginning when he was making the chord change to the faster version of the song.

Tony recently produced an album in 2004 called Vagabond produced by Bear Family records and is living in Germany.
Then the Quarrymen played a 35 minute set, including "In Spite Of All The Danger", "Come On", and some great Elvis hits like "Don't Be Cruel". Sixties rock star Donovan also performed.
It was a great evening!

no ship dude either that or someone laid a irish name on a brit....born Andrew Esmond Sheridan McGinnity on May 21, 1940..that means he has three different names...tony sherian is better than andy sheridan tho..or eddie sherian..ladies and gents andy mcginnity...nope...
