Lowering CPU temp options
I want to lower my CPU temp. What are some things yall have done? Ive got 2 fans, but the temp when I play COD4 gets a little high for my comfort (roughly 55 Centigrade). It used to be lower, but with its recent increase, I want to prevent it from hitting the 60's and frying my motherboard. Thanks

Re: Lowering CPU temp options
google a program called speedfan. Depending on how your fans are connected they might not be running 100% all the time. Speedfan let's you set the % that they run at.
If that doesn't work you might need a new cpu heatsink and fan.

Re: Lowering CPU temp options
thanks! Ill check out speedfan
Edit: After getting the program, my "temp 1" was in the 40's, but then my "core" (e-GeForce 7600 GT) has gone all the way to 77C while running COD4! Will a new fan on the side make a big difference on the graphics card? (its pretty close to the card itself) I guess I will be finding a new fan in any case. Thanks Tenken

Re: Lowering CPU temp options
To control the graphics card fan you need a program called Rivatuner. The only thing is if you push your gfx card's fan to 100% it'll probably sound like a lawnmower so if that bothers you ya need to get a new cooler for the gfx card. An extra case fan will help a little but not enough.

Re: Lowering CPU temp options
LOL! excellent idea pony!
Thanks for the responses, I got rivatuner and think I am not sure exactly how to get the fan going faster.
OK so I got rivatuner\nvidia\fan.. what should I put as a value? I believe this is my Graphics card fan speed value for the registry

Re: Lowering CPU temp options
Actually what I do is on the main tab click the button next to the name of your video card (with the triangle on it) then click low level system setting. There's a Fan tab in which you can set the speed in like 30% increments. You can also have the fan speed up at windows startup.
