Rumor says ping no longer matters... BUST! It means EVERYTHING in gaming and always will.
Simple trick to obtaining a lower ping...
Open your mp_config.cfg file in your player's folder (usually C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\players\profiles\"yourname" )
and go to edit-->find and find these two parameters:
cl_maxpackets
com_maxfps
What we're doing is adjusting the 'sweet spot' this is a well-known adjustment that can help anyone.
Depending on your video card, cpu, etc you can use the lower or higher options.
Set maxpackets to 44 & fps to 45
maxpackets to 54 & fps to 55
maxpackets to 76 & fps to 77
maxpackets to 100 & fps to 101
etc,
since packets can only go to 100 that would be a good limit.
This lowered a few people on the teams pings from 5 to 30 milliseconds which is a BIG improvemnt. Thanks and FRAG ON!
