My Ocean
An ocean stands between us.
This ocean stands between us,
In merriment and pain.
It swirls to neverending
Times and lives to fill again.
An ocean stands between us.
Here I’m standing on one shore,
While, there, you grace another.
And all I want is you.
And all I have are others.
An ocean keeps us separate.
This ocean, like an infinite wall,
To which we have no key.
I am held from you, my love,
And you are kept from me.
I cannot swim this ocean
For the ocean can devour me
More than your consuming love.
Its dangers are more perilous
Than any horror you may think of.
Then what can be these dangers?
They are the sharks that prowl your mind,
And the evil, spreading wings.
They are the madness of your universe
And the pain it stealthily brings.
There’s an ocean of emotion
Stretching from your feet to mine.
An ocean I turn my back on now
Because I cannot bear to know
You are there and I am not with you.

This poem totally blew me away. Truly, honestly had me in tears. *laughs* And I don't mean a sniffle and a tissue. I mean downright humiliating sobbing like a little girl. Hit me just right, I guess.
It is beautiful. And painful. And despairing.
