crumbled and waiting
sitting against this crumbling wall
I know every single brittle brick
all the spiders that climb and weave
every shadow play of light
its all I will ever know
leaning there in its dank shadow
head back looking to the sky
watching life fly above
listening when the clouds speak my name
waiting for the screams of the night
fingers sifting through memories in the sand
the lonely smell of isolation heavy in the air
dreaming of what ifs and could have beens
useless delusions of infinite wisdom
wisdom scattered like so much chaff into the wind
no seeds to grow and shelter me in this nightmare
unending screams and banging of bloody fists on the wall
marks of a time before this apathy
when fighting was everything
breaking free of brick and mortar
but I grew tired and weak
and couldn't tear these walls down
so now I sit against these crumbling walls
waiting for time to do what I couldn't
