Standing on a hill
Disclaimer: Well i don't know how the storys going to turn out.. but in my bit. Theres a nameless terror across the land that has begun sweeping through twons and Villages. When this town heres about it. She refuses to leave, because she is bored of her life and wants excitement.. i don't know from there. you'll have to decide
Rating: U.. i don't know yet. There are no guidelines! write what you like!
I sighed deeply. Not a sigh of releif, or a sigh of great happiness, not a sigh that showed any emotion at all. Just a sigh. I am standing on a hill, a grassy hill which overlooks the veiw of the lake. Once that lake felt warm. The different shades of blue bringing it to life. The way the light from the sun, or the moon made it shimmer. As though groups of creatures purely made from light are dancing on the surface. But now the water is grey and dull. Like a swamp. But even a swap show signs of life and excitement at times. But the lake, the lake is dead now.
I folded myself up and sat on the grass. Using one arm to hold my knees against my chest and the other to play with the stem of a dandylion. My red hair wisping across my face lightly. The times were bad. Everyone had fled the town, but I had refused to leave my home. Yes they pleaded me to come, but i refused. Maybe it was because i had become bored of my life. Maybe i wanted a challenge, to have excitement. Now though, it seems whatever is coming, I will surely not live to see happiness again. WHat is coming? No one knows what started this. There hasn't been a person whose seen the reason for this distruction that has lived to tell about it. Now people were fleeing, and the terror was close. But at least i'll die knowing what was behind it all. But who say I will Die? There must surely be a way to get away. Yet.. No one has fouhnd one yet. And what would happen to me now, was up to fate.

Re: Standing on a hill
We are all cloaked in black. Riding black horses through the slowly changing sky. There were only five of us. But the five of us together were stronger then any force of humans alive. Towns were beginning to flee as they heard of our coming. The people dont know what or who we are. Some thought we are just an extremely strong force of mortal. We all laughed when we heard that one. Mortals are something we are surely not.
We are but a force of an immortal, a werewolf, two dark elves and a vampire. All of us almost impossible to kill.
First there was Damian. An immortal. The leader of our group. He called us the Dark League. He used dark because we only attacked at night. He was incredibly strong. He did have one weakness though. But he only mentioned that he had one and never told us what it was. He barley showed any mercy to the people we killed. And on occasion when he did, he was oddly kind.
Then there was Rogan. Very silent, very dark and very alone. He was most likely the strongest out of all of us. Damian hated and admired that about Rogan. But there was something about Rogans past that he was not telling us. Rogan is the werewolf. Very civilized for what he is.
Next theres Celebrimbor and Taurnil Ancalimë. The dark elf twins. Both very strong warriors both have an odd sense of humor. At times I really don’t trust either of them. But everyone does have their serious moments, and when they have theirs they actually shut up! We just call Celebrimbor Brim or Brimy, none of us can pronounce his name that well, not even his own brother.
Finally theres me. Lewis, the Vampire and the reason why we only attack at night. Even now as we ride through the almost set sun I feel the burning on my skin. But now it doesn’t seem to bother me as much. Being a Vampire I have lived a century and I am the second youngest out of the five. Rogan is the youngest, for he is not an immortal. Why I joined this League I don’t know. But now I feel it was to fill that empty hole in my heart. I have never loved, or been loved for that matter. It is something I would like to know.
As we arrived at the end of the forest trees Damian rose his hand for us to stop. The town was quiet, and a darkness feel around it. An Erie sort of feeling crept up inside me.
“Well I ‘spose it’s deserted” said Brim
“Clearly Brim, it is. You really didn’t need to point that out.” Damian spat the last word. The city was not deserted though. I felt a presence. A strong one and I didn’t know what it was. But it filled me with a sudden longing to run through the town and check every house. I smelled the blood. And it was one of the sweetest thing I had ever smelt.
“Well I suppose they fled then. Excellent.” Damian sounded satisfied at the least.
“’Ello ‘ello! What’s this? Seems to be a silhouette on the hill side cap’n.” Taurnil said gleefully. “Oh and it seems to be women. What fun!” Damian shot him a look of annoyance.
“I said don’t call me captain! But yes your right.. This could be fun.” An evil grin spread across his face. I looked over at Rogan. He had better eye sight then all of us, being somewhat of an animal. Even though there wasn’t another full moon until next Saturday, he still could see well. For a second, his unexpressonal eyes grew wide, and a show of panic was clearly seen on them. Soon it was gone though and before I could ask him anything he had turned back to the conversation.
“- Please can we keep ‘er Dami! She can probably cook and all!”
“It does sound reasonably. She can do no harm I suppose and-“
“NO!” interrupted Rogan, who rarely spoke at all. Everyone gave him a surprised look. “Er- I mean. She won’t suspect its us that are doing the attacks. Why don’t we just ride through…” This made Damian laugh, he had a rather awful laugh.
“Sorry Rogan. But the choice is either kill her, or bring her with us. We’ll have a vote. Who says we bring her?” Everyone raised their hands, even I did. But I wasn’t aloud to bite her, which was rather disappointing. Rogan looked rather sad now. And when Damian reviled a rather fun plan to capture her, Rogan said they only needed four for that and he wouldn’t take part. Damian gave this a snort, said ‘fine’ and we went in position. The twins were on the shore of the lake, bellow her, Damian and I were closing her in.
As we walked towards her she turned her head and looked at us. She had red hair, which feel lightly on her shoulders and beautiful eyes. God her eyes. They were the most beautiful eyes I had ever seen. I almost forgot about the plan. I continued closing her in, her eyes narrowed slightly and she took a step back.
“Can I help you?” she asked. Her voice was sweet. Almost too sweet for me to handle. I heard Damian snicker.
“This will be more fun then I though. Yes my dear, you can help us.” He singled to me and I stepped forward, she took another step back. The plan was working. I lowered my hood. So she could see my face, my light brown hair, my piercing blue eyes. I opened my mouth. I thought the shock of seeing my fangs would do the trick, I was wrong. She smiled slightly at me. I thought I was melting on the spot, her smile was more beautiful then the sun itself and I hadn’t seen that for years.
“Wow a vampire. How intresting.” This surprised me but I wasn’t going to get off task. In less then a second I was only inches from her. The blood was intoxicating.
“You find that intresting, I’m glad. We’ll have much to talk about then.” I licked my lips and she took another step back. She was right on the edge. Again I was right infront of her. But this time, I was almost touching her; I was looking down at her, only inches from her lips. I moved down on her and I was so close. So close to touching her lips, then she stumbled backwards once again and fell from the hill and into Brims arms.
“’Ello sweet pea! Your going to ‘ave fun with us.” I looked down and she looked up. I waved to her.
“Don’t worry darling! I’m not going anywhere.” She screamed, Damian and Taurnil laughed while Brim sprinkled dust on her face and she fell into asleep. So why am I feeling guilty?
We returned to the cave where Rogan waited for us. He looked up rather gloomily.
“No need to be sour Rog. We ‘ave caught our catch!” Brim exclaimed. Dami nodded.
“We’ll stay here for the night and day. We need time to plan our attack on the next village and we need introductions to the lady.” We all nodded and followed our leader into the cave.
It wasn’t until morning when she awoke. She slowly opened her eyes and sat up, looking around.
“Am I dead?” Damian smiled at her.
“No my dear you aren’t dead. You are very much alive. Let me introduce you to the Dark League. We are the fighters who have been terrorizing towns, villages and leaving no trace.” He nodded approvingly. She just starred as he introduced us all. Rogan looked away while he was being introduced. He had watched her closely while she was sleeping. When the introductions were finished, her eyes were only on Rogan.
“Rogan. But I thought you died.” He shook his head.
“No Lilly. I am clearly alive.” He gave her a short smile and moved to her side, lightly wrapping his arms around her. This made flinch slightly. “I have missed you though, Lilly my love” He kissed her on the top of the head. I was the first to speak.
“How.. Touching.” I began softly. “But Rogan we don’t need to see your.. Soap opera unfold before us.” I snickered.
“Welcome Lilly to the Dark League. If you need anything, I shall always be around.” I took her soft hand in mine, and touched my lips to it lightly, and with that I went to the back of the cave. To the darkness.

Re: Standing on a hill
I was confused. Why hadnt they just killed me? I was of no help to them. And Rogan, why was he with them? How could he have chosen this dark path? I agreed I would stay with them. Where would I go if I tried to run anyway? There was no place for me to go. I sighed. I didnt want to think about this right now. It was the middle of the day and everyone was asleep.
I stood, leaning against the cave wall, looking out into the mid day sun. I chuckled softly. An immortal, a vampire, a werewolf and two elves. What a group. I now knew why no one had defeated them; no one COULD defeat them. The only one you could kill easily was Rogan. But who had silver bullets?
I shivered as I remembered the day I heard the news of Rogans death. I didnt come out of the house for months. I had been so depressed. I didnt know what to do now. He was alive, I had worked so hard on forcing him out of my life and are last parting had been so dramatic. It made me sick just thinking about it.
I sighed once again. A sad sigh and I wondered how many times Ive done that..

Re: Standing on a hill
I watched her closely. She was a beautiful thing, and I wanted to know more about her and Rogan. How could he of all people capture the heart of such a delicate flower? He had hurt her, which wasn't too hard to figure out.
I walked towards her, keeping my footsteps silent so she wouldnt hear me coming. As I reached her, I placed my hands lightly on her shoulders and brought my face to her ear. I felt her back go ridged.
So we meet yet again Lilly. My voice was soft, seductive and teasing. I knew she wouldnt remember me.
I have never met the likes of you before. She spat and wrenched out of my grasp. This made me smile.
Oh but me have sweet Lilly. Dont you remember? The night after you and that wolf had that horrible fight? The night before he was supposedly killed? The night you went into that bar? That is the night you met me. He smiled evilly. She had not known then that I was a vampire. She had not known that when I had made sweet rough love to her.
I was amused to see her remember. She was so drunk when I had to her to my home. I did feel bad, using her like that. At first I didnt realize it was she, but now I knew for sure it was.
Pity really that I hadnt stuck around to see you in the morning. You fell asleep with your head on my chest you know. Lovely sight. He smiled at her, but she didnt return it.
Please dont tell Rogan. Please-
So, you still love him? I frowned and my eyes narrowed.
I- I dont know. She looked down at her feet. I went close to her again and lifted her chin up with two of my fingers, so she would look at me.
He doesnt deserve you. He faked his own death to get away from you. I didnt know if that was true but I knew he had faked his death. She opened her mouth to speak, and I felt myself falling into her. I touched our lips together and let my tongue slide into her mouth and caress her tongue lightly. To my joy she didnt pull back, but kissed back. It was when I wrapped my arms around her she pulled back.
This is wrong. She said frowning. Ill see you tonight. She turned and went to where the others were sleeping. At least I got a kiss out of it. I smiled to myself, I had a chance.

Re: Standing on a hill
Rogan clenched his jaw as he pretended to sleep. The cold and damp of the cave floor seeped through his clothing. Unlike the others, he disdained the use of any mat or other such thing to increase his comfort. He had given up the right to comfort long ago. And at this moment he welcomed the cold against his skinit eased some of the burning that flared within him.
Lewis knew he had heard him. He knew Rogan could smell him as he walked by, walked toward her. And Lewis knew Rogan could hear his words as clearly as if he had spoken them to him. It took every bit of strength of will that he possessed to hold his body in check, to keep from flying at Lewis and ripping out his throat! But what would that serve? Only to show her once again how violent and like an animal he had become! And he had lost her long ago Even before his death he had lost her. His death had just put a period to it, made it easier for her to move on. Which, obviously, she had. That I-I dont know. she had uttered in response to Lewiss asking her if she still loved him That said all that needed to be said. There was a time when she would have shouted Yes! to the heavens at that questionbut that time was clearly past. And that was as it should be!
He snarled and quickly made a point of turning over fitfullyas if dreaming. But Lewis the thought of Lilly with Lewis was beyond repulsive! Why, she might as well be with Damian! A shudder ran through his body at that thought. Well, perhaps not as bad as that. But he would NOT let Lewis get his teethliterally!into her! Not if he had to diefor real this timeto prevent it!

Re: Standing on a hill
I didnt dare linger there, with the sun so high in the sky. As if it was just waiting for me to step out of shadows reach to be burnt to nothing but ashes.
I ran my fingers through my hair and I walked slowly towards the group. Lilly had moved to the back of the cave, away from everyone. She was shocked, she didnt know how to react to all this, to Rogan being alive. He really screwed himself over. I laughed, and I didnt try to keep it silent. Rogan had been silent for long enough, It was time for him to talk, to tell me why in gods name would he fake his death to get away from a angel such as her.
I walked towards him. Why did he pretend to sleep, when he knew that I knew he was awake? I paced beside him. He wasnt fooling anyone.
Wake up you bastard. I spat. He didnt respond. I said wake up you furry flee bitten bastard, I know your not asleep. I snarled, which was rather ironic, for he was the one who should be snarling. This time he took notice.

Re: Standing on a hill
I opened my eyes and looked up at Lewis. At the best of times the peace between us was uneasyand this was definitely NOT the best of times. Be quiet you blood-sucking flying rodent! I hissed. Or do you want EVERYONE to see me tearing out your throat? I stood up slowly, my eyes never leaving his face. I sensed the tension in him and knew where that could lead. Not that I would not have welcomed that at this moment!
I glanced toward Lilly. She had settled into a far corner of the cave and had a blanket tightly wrapped around her, her head resting against the wall. Her eyes were closed. I watched her for a moment, looking for signs that she was asleep. I noted the slow, regular rise and fall of her chest and was satisfied that sleep held her. I noticed with satisfaction that Lewiss gaze had followed mine and was fixed on Lilly.
With all the animal instincts that the approaching full moon had honed to a sharp edge, I leapt at Lewis, my right hand wrapping around his throat, my left grabbing a fist full of his hair. I snarled at him, teeth bared, my face inches from his.
I felt a hand grasp my shoulder, felt fingers of steel digging into my flesh. Let him go, Rogan. The words were spoken softlyas though the speaker knew he did not need to raise his voice for his commands to be obeyed. And normally that was true. But I could nearly taste Lewiss fleshand I was reluctant to let go of that. I heard a long, slow growl and realized it had come from my own throat.
I heard a sigh from behind me and the grip on my shoulder lightened. As much as it would amuse me to watch this little drama unfold, we have much ahead of us come nightfall. He let go of my shoulder completely. I tightened my grip on Lewiss throat for a brief moment and yanked down hard on his hair, jerking his head back. I released him suddenly, my snarl turning to a satisfied grimace as Lewis stumbled backwards, nearly falling on his ass.
I turned toward Damian. I saw his eyes flicker slightly and I realized my fury still clung to my face. I laughed softlyas much at myself as at Damians unexpected reaction. My laughter was rewarded by a slight raise of one of Damians eyebrows and an answering chuckle. You do find amusement in the oddest places, Damian.
His lips twisted into a smile, but his eyes were as cold and dead as usual. I was just thinking that if you two were to destroy each other, there would be nothing to stand between our lovely little angel and the elves. He laughed again, but this time there was a darkness to the sound. They have quite a way with femalesWould be quite entertaining.

Re: Standing on a hill
I shot my glance quickly to Damian. Leave Lilly to those terrible elves? I dont even want to imagine what theyd do to her! I held back a shiver.
My eyes narrowed as they fell on Rogan. The bastard. How dare he attack when I wasnt looking! Hed pay for that, and when he least expected it! After all.. I had not intended to fight him. Insult and maybe threaten yes.. But not fight.
So when did Damian start referring to Lilly as our lovely little angel? Our was defiantly not the word for it. Lewiss lovely little angel yes. I did have the girl wrapped around my finger. I glanced at her again. So peaceful when she was sleeping.
Damian had surprised me. Lilly could break up the league. Why didnt he kill her now? It took me about two seconds to figure that one out. For his entertainment. He thought this was all extremely funny.
So Damian, your finding this all very funny, arent you? But thats not it theres something more. His lips were still curled slightly.
Yes Lewis, it is funny. How did we come across the one girl you had both encountered before? he stopped and chuckled softly. And of course youre right as always, there is something more. But that is none of your business. He spoke the words hard, as if to warn me not to go any farther. As for now I suggest the pair of you get some sleep. We have to get to our destination before sunrise. He nodded slightly and turned to leave but stopped. And if I catch either of you in combat with each other again the consequence will be unbearable. His threat was clear to both of us. I watched him leave before speaking again.
Youre an idiot Rogan, and if you try to fight me again youll lose more then you bargained for.
******
The night came faster then I had anticipated. I had gotten no sleep, but had stayed up to think. I was packing up my horse when I spotted Lilly out of the corner of my eye. She was pulling her hair back out of her face and tying it loosely behind her. It was then I noticed that we only had five horses. This was perfect. A subtle thing like this would pick at Rogans nerves.
I finished with my horse and made my way towards Lilly. I touched her shoulder lightly to show her I was present.
Hello Lewis. Her voice was soft.
Good evening Lilly. Will you do me the favor of riding with me tonight? I caught Rogans eye at this. He was watching and I knew he could hear me. She shrugged.
Alright, Ill ride with you. I smiled at her and took her hand lightly in mine.
********
We had been ridding for at least an hour now, and should be there soon. We had to be there soon. Lilly was right in front of me and the scent of her blood was driving me crazy. I had moved my body so I was right up against hers, my arms on either side of her to reach the reins. I felt a pair of eyes on me and immediately figured they were Rogans. I was right. He was ridding a few feet away from me, on my right side. This would be fun.
I got eye contact with him, his eyes were cold. Slowly I took my hand and moved the hair away from her neck and lowered my face to it, I had to keep all control now. I smelt her skin, it was so sweet. I saw Rogan twitch slightly. I brought out my tongue slowly and pretended to lick the flesh beneath it.
If anything were to piss Rogan off this would be it! I smiled to myself and kissed the back of her neck lightly a few times. She turned for a moment and looked at me.

Re: Standing on a hill
He had lain uneasy for the remainder of the day. Damians threat hadnt concerned him in the least. There was not much Damian could do to him that would matter much at this point in his life. But he knew Damian, better than Lewis didand that always rankled with Lewis. Lewis always wanted to know everything, wanted to appear virtually omniscient in all things. But there were things about Damian that Lewis did not knowand Rogan did. And those things sent a shiver up his spine as he had lain upon the cold, damp floor watching the sun slowly sink into the horizon. The elves would be the least of Lillys worries.
He glanced over at Lewis as he rode alongside him. He made eye contact with him and held it as their horses matched strides. There was no question that Lewis was playing him. And that disturbed him. But he had made the first move of aggression toward Lewis, not the other way around. That also disturbed Rogan. He and Lewis had been friendsor something that approximated friendship in those of their kind. How quickly he had been willing to throw that aside. And for what? Jealousy? He had no right to be jealous! He had ended his relationship with Lilly a long time ago. It had been his choice, his wish. He twitched slightly from the emotions that rose unbidden within him. He saw Lewiss eyes gleam with satisfaction. Of course he had seen that subtle movement! He had the eyes of a night hunter! And of course he had misinterpreted it! As Lewis kissed the back of Lillys neck, Rogan broke eye contact with him and snarled, spurring his horse on ahead. He passed the elves and heard their laughter. They wouldnt say anything to him, of coursethey knew he had tasted elf flesh beforeand had found it sweet. It would not take much provocation for him to taste it again. But let them laugh. Let Lewis laugh as well. None of that mattered.
He drew rein along side Damian, who had stopped at the crest of a hill. He glanced at the immortals face. It was as expressionless as usual. Damian never showed any emotion, any signs of anticipation, any expression at allunless it served his purpose. Going to let us in on your plans for tonight? Or shall we just follow behind you like obedient puppies? Rogans voice was slightly taunting.
Damian turned his head and looked at Rogan. His cold blue eyes seemed to flicker for a moment and Rogan almost smiled. Almost. Its not like you havent followed behind me sniffing at my ass before, Rogan. Damian smiled slowly. Thought you quite enjoyed that position. The smile reached his eyes for a momenta very brief momentthen the hardness returned. But your nose seems to be twitching in a different direction lately. He glanced back at Lilly and Lewis, then turned away. I suggest you return to your guard dog position, Rogan. It would be a pity if our lovely little angel were to succumbonce againto Lewiss charms. Would make her decidedly useless for what I have in mind. Damian was clearly dismissing him.
There was no point in starting an argument with Damian at this juncture. He turned his horse around and walked him back toward Lewis and Lilly. Their heads were very close. Too close.
