Paper Hearts
Hearts cut
Torn, folded, taped
Bent, broken, patched, frayed
Kept in pockets
Gone through the wash
Come out crinkled, wrinkled, dry
Uneven sides
Ripped edges
Pink, purple, red, white
Faded, bright,
Passed along
Thrown aside
All my paper hearts.
