Four Years
Four years
a gaping wound
I've stretched the pain out
far too long
Yet time still festers between us
An infection
of hate and regret
But were still silent
Each moment I wait
another brick
is put
on an ever building wall
I'm starting to lose sight of you
Of what I saw
Of everything
Even if we let it go
kicking and screaming
it would still be better
than hanging on
to something we can't touch
Though somewhere
I know
we're tangled in a web
much thicker than we thought
To attach ourselves to nothing
gives us nothing to cling to
when all's gone
It doesn't matter
we'll ignore it
And let the clock
repeat the time
on the wall.
