Read this before posting!
3 important rules here:
1. Be sure to put a disclaimer in your first post. Remember, you do not own the established characters and if you forget the disclaimer you are violating copyright laws and opening yourself up for expensive trouble.
2. Try to respect the wishes of the original author with regards to fanfiction. I know, for example, that Anne Rice does not permit fanfiction--so anything based on her works will not be permitted. If you write Harry Potter fanfiction (or read it) then you probably are aware of the controversy regarding NC-17 fanfiction. Please respect her wishes on that. If you HAVE to have sexual situations, do not make them graphic.
4. PLEASE include "rating" information for your story. While "pornography" is prohibited, sexual situations that are part of the story (not just sex for sex sake) are fine. BUT... make it CLEAR to the reader at the start of the post what your story may contain. Examples would be:
Sexual content
Slash
Language
Violence
Let's keep the "ratings" simple:
G=all readers
13=Not suitable for readers under 13
NC-17=Not suitable for readers under 17 (16 if that is the age of consent in your location). ANY graphic sexual situations make it NC-17
Anything that crosses the line into pornography will be deleted. I'll warn you first--to give you a chance to make changes or copy it for yourself. But you have one warning only--and the next day it will be gone.
