Luc's sunset

The title sounds alot better then it is *bats eyelashes* I wrote you a sunset through someones eyes, my own character. It has no significance what so ever, but it's still for you.

The curtain was silk and slipped through his fingers gently and with ease. Wondering how something so soft and perfect could be bordering a window to a world filled with imperfections and such cruel people. Turning his head slightly he saw the small girls chest lightly rising and falling as she slept peacefully. He bent down by the side of the bed and ran the back of his fingers against her soft, blushed cheek. The girl could have been mistaken for a doll, her pale skin and the soft red curls which rested on her face were enough to pull it off but what really got him was her lips, they were like a perfectly formed rose bud. Smiling slightly he knew he loved his daughter with all his heart. When she stirred in her sleep he stood up, not wanting to wake her and sat down in the wicker chair next to the window. Drifting off into thoughts about a family of three going to the beach, his little girl on his shoulders smiling, laughing and clapping her hands in joy. A hand on his shoulder broke his thoughts as he looked up and saw the women he had once loved very much. She was still so beautiful, her hair was like his daughters, red and wavy and her face looked the same as it had looked the last time he saw her. There was something different though, something in her eyes. The emerald green stars, which had once lit his way, seemed to have dimmed, as though they had seen too much.
“What are you doing here?” Her voice was not forceful or scared it was soft and almost soothing like she already knew the answer.
“ I just wanted to see her one more time before I left.” He tried to smile at her, but his smile wouldn’t come as he remembered why he was leaving.
“She doesn’t know you exist. We both know it’s for the best.” Her eyes, if possible, went dimmer then they already were. He knew she was sorry.
“ I know and you know I wouldn’t be able to leave unless I came one last time.” Running a hand through his thick brown hair, he stood up. Somehow he had forgotten how tall he was in comparison to her. Managing a quick smile he turned away and opened the silk curtain for the last time.
“Look, the sun is setting.” He smiled then as she stood by his side and they watched it together. The sky was like a canvas being painted with colours of the day as it turned swiftly to night. Sunsets were the one thing other then his daughter that reminded him that there was still beauty in the world, you just have to wait for it. As the final glow on the horizon disappeared he kissed the top of her hair, she smelt like she had always smelt and that consumed his sense and made everything in him want to stay. Letting the silk slowly slip through his fingers he glanced once more at the sleeping form and a single tear rolled down his face.

Wonderful words to read first thing in the morning. You capture a "moment" very well. Much more than just a "sunset." I particularly like how you used the silk curtain. You really have a talent with words, you know.
