Hello

I'm a 29 y/o physician in favor of topfree equality. This is in addition to being a nudist at heart. My wife does participate in topfreedom around the house at times, depending on the weather. In fact, our state of dress is very much dictated by temperature. We are proactive in how much energy we use during the summer and winter, and our dress reflects this.

Re: Hello

Hi All,

Like others, I 'lurked' around for a while before finally coming on board as a member. Though I haven't been very chatty yet, I hope to as I become more comfortable with my own topfreedom. I find myself a bit torn with the topic. I'll explain this.
I totally enjoy driving around on a warm day topfree in my car wondering if anyone notices. Perhaps they assume I am wearing a sleeveless top, like a tube top. I also have enjoyed being in my backyard watering and gardening topfree. Neighbors with two story homes have an easy view, if they bother to look. Other than these two occasional adventures, my topfreedom is very limited - one may say boring. However, completely enjoyed by me! I hope to learn and promote topfreedom here in CA like the laws in NY - If it's ok for a man, it should be ok for a woman.
Then, the flip side of my thoughts, which cause me to be a bit torn. About a year ago I was in Berkeley and a woman was walking around with her button up shirt flowing open enjoying the sway of her bare breasts for all to see. My initial thought was ‘nut case’, yet I was so jealous of her! I wanted to do the same thing, but at the same time I thought she must be on drugs. This led me to begin to question if it was normal for me to want to be topfree, or was I crazy? Here I was judging this free, brave woman and questioning myself. It just didn’t seem like a sane thing to be doing, but damn was I jealous. Much to my regret, I led my son in a different direction to prevent him from seeing her. In hindsight, I wish I had acted normal and if he asked me about her, I could have simply answered that it was a life choice and she could do what she wanted. I let a perfect opportunity for learning and acceptance of others go by!
I suppose I worry what other will think of me if they knew I enjoy and promote topfreedom. Like others have expressed on the board, I definitely could lose my job and reputation if others in the community knew about my practice and desire to be topfree more often. However, I did go to work with no bra on last week and no one said a word! emoticon It sure felt nice and almost natural by the end of the day.
I'd like to ask others on the forum if they have experienced the feeling I have about acceptance or being crazy.

Re: Hello

No, I can't say that I had any conflicting emotions about it. It never really even occured to me that I ought to try topfreedom, or to think about the issue, until my (future) husband suggested it (while we sunbathed in his back yard), so I figured, why not? The world didn't end as a result so several times I did that. A couple of years or so later sunbathing in public when and where it was possible, he asked me if I was willing and, again, I figured why not since it felt comfortable (and he rather liked it) and so out came the boobs. Now I want to have greater choice in not having to cover tham, and thus now I do have some emotional involvement in the issue.

Re: Hello

Sue I understand and empathize with you on seeing the woman with the open blouse. While obviously its not strictly an issue for me (topfreedom) I do understand because the same emotions crop up in other areas (such as wearing a thong or simply being naked in your back yard). I think the emotions & reaction with your child are normal given the standard upbringing most of us have had.

Consider the following in another area, race relations. How many of us older folks were brought up with certain cultural norms which were then deemed unsuitable? (Such as dating a member of a different race.) It takes time for us to unlearn this. It (having these feelings) is nothing to be ashamed of or embarrassed about and I think you did the exact right thing in bringing the subject up. It shows a streak of courage in you. To come into this community on an introduction post and do a mea culpa shows solid character.

Welcome!

Rich

Re: Hello

Thank you, Rich. I came to this board for support and understanding and you provided it!
I will continue to question myself, but I will also continue to be more and more comfortable.
Small steps, such as vowing to be brafree all weekend and possibly topfree a few hours, is the key for me.
Again, I appreciate your welcome.
Sue
