Exhibitionism
I never really thought of myself as an exhibitionist, even though I've enjoyed being topless or nude for just about as long as I can remember.
Recently though, I've realized that I really do like to be seen and that even in the back yard, I purposely walk through areas that are open to public view. And at the beach or even a friend's house topless or nude, I like it when guys look at me and kinda hope I turn them on. And I really like it if a guy makes a nice comment. That really turns me on.
It seems different with my fiance. He likes being nude (he had never done it in public until he met me) because he finds it relaxing, but could care less if others are looking at him or not. He does like it when men are watching me though. Are men and women different that way? Or is it just us?

Re: Exhibitionism
Men like being in the company of attractive women, even more so if his companion is attracting the attention of other men.
Unfortunately, some men are rather insecure and get jealous if their better half responds to the attention in some way.

Re: Exhibitionism
If my wife drew some attention to herself, I would have the thought, she is with me and don't you wish she was with you? I have the assurance she is going home with me, and that is a good feeling.

Re: Exhibitionism
Actually, I rather prefer men looking at my wife. When I think deeply about why, it has everything to do with being married to a woman I find so beautiful. Lucky me. Why would a guy like me be so fortunate.
Doing nude photography, I find my favorite models are often married or in a serious relationship. Most of their men are fine with their women spending the day with a guy/photographer while being nude.
One model, her boyfriend did not know about the type of modeling she did. She was encouraged by her friends to tell him. At first he pouted about it. Then she showed him some of the shots we took and he was pleased - nothing demeaning or exploitive. Latter she posed for some erotic art. Nervous about showing him those pics, yet when he saw then, he loved it.
Carly, men are going to look at you. In my opinion, you cannot help that, except by covering up. Once a man looks, provided he is not provoked by flirtatious stuff, he will stop looking and it is no big deal. Like a friend of mine said about his wife breast feeding in public - let the guy see your boob, then he will stop looking.
At the risk of being disrespectful, those many guys who do not like their women being looked at, I find that reaction a bit too possessive. It is one thing to be sexually faithful to your partner, it is a whole different thing to not be attractive.

Re: Exhibitionism
From a very young age I have craved having men see my girl parts. I am blessed being married to a voyeur that gets off on my hobby too. But for me, exposing myself has to be a game. The subtlety of making spontaneous public exposure appear to be accidental is such a rush. This is especially true when there is a single (preferably) hot guy target that gets to see my nipple right out there.
If I can tell that he has noticed that my nipples can be seen inside my carelessly unbuttoned shirt when I move just so, I then can decide if I want to catch him looking. Usually I dip my shoulder or bend forward just enough and simply let him look and enjoy me. God that is hot. He is a stranger after all and he can see right down my shirt. But once in a while I will lock eyes with a man and smile. That is electricity right down to my crotch. He knows that I know that he can see. But I never reveal if it was all innocent and accidental or not...

Re: Exhibitionism
I think it's the reverse: when it comes to going beyond what is typically societally acceptable (which would be short of topfreedom for women and not nude for either), men are the more enthusiastic exhibitionists. That is why at CO places you usually find many more men than women. They also seem to be the driving force behind that attitude, in the sense that, for example, you don't really see wet t-shirt contests for men (which I think usually end up more like topfree or nude contests). If males didn't create a market for it, so to speak, women probably would be much less enthusiastic about showing the goods. Note that is because sexual connotations become injected into display of boobs and genitals.
My husband and I are like Carly's fiance. We don't really care how people react to my topfreedom or our nudity, as long as we don't get hassled or arrested for it.

Re: Exhibitionism
quote: men are the more enthusiastic exhibitionists
I totally disagree. Males, (I am saying males because this applies not only to humans but other species as well) are voyuer by nature and females are exhibitionist. Males are designed to search and find females and fight with other males to gain access and females are designed to advertise that the are available and ready with their appearance and smell. Exhibitionism is not limited to nudity or partial nudity. Exhibition is about feeling good about how oneself looks. That's why women spend more money on clothing, cosmetics and perfume etc than man do. And men dont care about how they look and dont know how to match colors.

Re: Exhibitionism
But nearly all flashers who are arrested are men. Is this because there are, as I believe, more male flashers, or because women are not usually arrested when they flash?

Re: Exhibitionism
Flashing is not exhibitionism, it is getting a kick out of shocking people; just like bursting a blown paper bag to scare or startle somebody.

Re: Exhibitionism
I have yet to hear of any male complaining that he had been flashed by a woman.
Men who flash women are usually the deviant type who don't wear anything under a raincoat and do it for the sole purpose of startling or scaring a woman.
