Implants
After years of thinking about it, I've decided to get implants. No one has pressured me, it's just something that I want to do. Since I spend a lot of time topfree, I don't want to have obvious scars, and I want to look as natural as possible. So, I need some advice from those of you who have done this. How big? Saline or silicone (the latter is now available again, apparently)? What's the best way to insert them? I've talked to two surgeons. One wants to insert them by cutting around the nipple and the other does it from the armpit. I want to get it done after the holidays so that I'm all healed by Spring. Can anyone share some advice? I have several friends with implants, but they all had them done years ago.

Re: Implants
Hi Carly
While I do not have implants -- I am small chested and comfortable - I am impressed you have two different recommendations. I'd be curious as to the different rationale.
I do know that the scare from the areola is very difficult to see. My breasts are "lumpy" -- thus I would want an implant that makes it easy to do an examination for breast cancer.
Look forward to hearing of your experience...

Re: Implants
As a male I will never understand the desire to for implants. Although they make your clothes look fabulous (uppercleavage high an round) they don't look natural.
Since the 40's, the media and the lingere industry have insisted that the most attractive breasts are the ones pushed up so high in order to create the "rounded cleavage" we have lost sight of what the breast is for. To feed our children.
I have a friend who is very small she had implants and works in the medical field. She became very ill after the implants. They thought it was ms, chronic fatigue and many other symptoms similar to these. She eventually removed the implants and the symptoms dissapeared almost immediatly.
They also do not feel natural. They are hard and diffucult to lay in the sand etc. I would caution about getting too large. The doctors are usually male and seem to always make them bigger than you think going in. Usually large C-D.
There is also another procedure which you have not mentioned. That is through the belly button. This leaves no scar and leaves the nerves around the nipple intact.
My wife is small 34A-B. I like her small. I only wish she could be comfortable enough to go without her bra more often. I love her just the way God created her.
I wish you the best which ever you choose.

Re: Implants
I'd recommend seeking out an online plastic surgery board to connect with others planning/have had the various surgeries. Get their opinions. (My opinion on which to get is invalid as the only breasts currently in my "sphere of influence" are my own man-boobs.)
I'd also second PhotoTane's suggection against going too big. The bigger they are, the faker they'll look--cases in point: Jordan, Pam Anderson. Remember: quality is better than quantity.

Re: Implants
Hi Carly - I agree with Photo Tane - You should do whatever you think is best for you, but don't assume that bigger is always better.
My wife's around a 34 or so, rather small, but absolutely perfect. The great thing about the smaller breasts is that they don't change much. My wife's breasts are as pretty now as they were almost 30 years ago. I'd say she's worn a bra less than 5% of the time. She doesn't sag and her breasts look like those of a 20 year old.
Good luck with whatever you decide.

Carly
The best kind of implants are no implants.
Small can be very beautiful.

Re: Implants
You might try asking on the GoingBraless.net forum. It seems to be slightly more active over all and I believe they have a few members with experience in that area.
No doubt there are web forums dedicated to this topic specifically as well.

Re: Implants
I have implants and love them. I did the armpit, the recovery time is much less if done that way. I went with Saline, Silicone was not available at that time ( I had it done 3 years ago). Just make sure you go to a good doctor. If your like me you will be happy you went forth and did it. I know most people on here saying not do it are trying to be helpful but most of them especially the men have no idea what its like be a small A cup. Clothes etc to not fit, no shape to your body. Take your time, do it for your own reason's, and you will be very happy, good luck.

Re: Implants
My wife was always a small 34A, then after breastfeeding our two sons her breast just "deflated" and so she decided 11 years ago to get implants. Well what a difference they made, she went to a 36C and now wears clothes that she would never consider before. We have fun shopping for sexy tops and dresses that show off her curves. So Carly44 I'd say go for it. Sure everyone has an opinion and yes they do feel "different" but like everything, after time I got to love them just fine, as she has. Her doctor advised her how large to go so they would appear normal and they do. Oh, by the way it was her idea at the time and I thought she really did not need them.

Re: Implants
Carly,
I won't add my opinion to the listing above. You've been on this board for quite a while. I know your decision is not just a whim.
Having said that, I advise you to take your time to find the right doctor, the right type of procedure etc. Get rid of the pressure to get it done now so you look ok by spring. Take as long as necessary. You could do your homework and have it done next October???
Whatever you decide, make an informed decision and know that our thoughts and prayers are with you.
Best of Luck,
Paul
