Royal Caribbean cruise ships
We have a Caribbean cruise scheduled for next summer on Royal Caribbean's "Freedom of the Seas." Does anyone know if they offer topfree sun decks? We were on Grandeur of the Seas last year and used the sauna & steam room nude every day, but there were no topfree sun decks. We hope Freedom of the Seas is different.
Also, it's stopping in Coco Cay, a Bahamian private island owned by Royal Caribbean - any info on that? The literature mentions "private and secluded" - we hope those are code words!

You used the Sauna and Spa nude everyday? Were they co-ed?
That would be wonderful to use them while nude.

No, they were not co-ed, but I think they could easily have been. You went from the "help desk" down a short corridor to the two rooms; the door for ladies was at the end, and for men the door was on the side. Given the lack of anyone being there, one could easily have ducked into the "opposite" locker room without detection.
No one was ever in the steam room. One day I went in the sauna and two other people were there; I went to the top bench and unwrapped my towel and laid on it. They didn't say anything to me about it but left a few minutes later. Were they "offended" or just done? Who knows. And one other time I was in the sauna nude when someone entered. They didn't disrobe but only stayed about five minutes. Couldn't stand the heat, I guess!

The YMCA I used to go to had steam and saunas in each locker room. I was uncommon to see someone dressed in them. Most, like 95%, of the men in them were nude. Heck, most of the guys walked around the locker room nude. No one seemd to bat an eye at the nudity either.
I find it odd that the ladies that used the locker room were taken back at your nudity. I sure when they showered, they weren't dressed. Just odd.

I don't believe any RCC ships have a topless deck. I am also going on Royal Caribbean next month through he Panama Canal. I cruise on RCC frequently and have never seen a topless deck.
Carnival used to have one but discontinued it a few years ago.

I have been to Coco Bay - you can find a spot to lay out there - either topless or nude easily. It was so beautiful there and to be nude there was wonderful

I have not seen a topless deck on any cruise ship in the past 10 years. I am afraid this is a trend affecting all of them. It is my understanding that many of them (like Carnival) used to have them but don't anymore.

I understand this as a lack of need, as one would normally go topless on any deck.

It would be great to be topless on any deck. But I always had to go to the top deck to take off my top.

Many cruise ships come to Portland, Maine each year and I see many of them because I live on an island in Portland harbor. The last cruise ship this year, which was here on Tuesday, was a German ship, the Deutschland. I would be surprised if it didn't permit topfreedom on it sun decks. Not all cruise ships have primarily American clienteles.
