Very good to see this article. My longtime contention has been that it will be money that drives the ultimate acceptance of topfreedom in this country. As more resorts see the money diverting from their properties to the topfree-friendly properties, they will start falling in line like dominos.

I believe that the casino resorts will be first; Atlantic City, Laughlin, the Indian casinos in California. Then the higher-end resorts in the hotter-destination cities.

And at last, Jane and The Neighborhood will be able to walk right into their Starbucks and their deli in the middle of the day!

Can't you just see walking into a Ruth's Chris and hearing, "Smoking or non-smoking? Clothed or topfree?"

Hey, ya gotta believe!

thats very good news. it's too bad though that these pools can't be "family friendly". they give the impression that minors are not allowed in. also, the hotel that has strippers at the pool makes it seem like being topfree is sexual. it's still good to hear topfreedom is becoming more acceptable, and there is definately money to be made from it.

I agree about the strippers. I don't think that promotes topfreedom at all. I strongly suspect that what it reinforces is the stereotype that topfreedom is sexual in nature and more appropriate to a red light district than the local town beach.

It may depend on what they mean by "strippers." If they have people doing a striptease at the poolside I'd agree with Rich, but if they have some women that they have hired so there will also be a topfree woman at the pool which would encourage guests to be topfree as many women don't want to be the first one, I think that could be good, but the media might call them strippers. I've never been to Vegas myself and from what I've read it can't make out how it really is there.

Great point Robert, in my mind I assumed that they were the equivalent of go-go dancers from the 60's or something like that. But if they are just blending in with the rest of the crowd not only is that a good thing, it shows the establishment as trying to promote the topfree lifestyle and spending money to do it. Which I think IS a good thing. Sort of like priming a water pump.

i found a review of the pool. it says the strippers are not paid to be there, and they just go there to relax. the guy who wrote the article doesnt seem to like the pool though. and the strippers were wearing pasties, that's weird considering it's a topfree pool.

Perhaps the showgirls that were using the pool customarily tan their whole body for the sake of the costume they wear for work.

The dancers might not want to darken their nipples as a result of being in the sun. I would asssume this practice it the way they may sun or use a tanning bed prior to the hotel making topfree sunning available at their (hotel) own pool.

I am bothered by th practice of many of the hotels having a cover charge relegating the use of the pool by men nothing more than a peep show that our wives are the stars in.

The the hotels that charge typically charge $10 for the ladies and $40 for the men. If my wife wishes to use this particular pool I don't believe it should cost US $50.00. As guests we should be able to use the pool because we are guests. In their defense, if said hotel is charging single men this higher fee to keep the rif raf down that would be more acceptable as long as we husbands were allowed to escort our ladies at no charge.

Perhaps, the Hotels could learn a few things from the CO resorts and clubs of the AANR. Nudity or Topfreedom does not equal Sex. Which is their hangup and how they make their money.

rant is over.

Then there's gamesmanship coming into play. Couples come so the guy may ogle and the woman takes off after 5 minutes (maybe he pays her $10). So the hotel asks for proof of marriage, and the guests get mad at having to produce at the very least drivers' licenses. And then the nonmarried couples who are guests get mad for being excluded. Their fee structure is probably the most practical alternative, except for simply not allowing non-guests in and then charging nothing.

I neglected to see the dilema regarding unmarried/or significant others.

I have been married so long I forget to think otherwise.

you are right. perhaps charge nothing and limit to guests rather than have the voyeur flavor. Or just maybe that is what sells.
