2009 PS Player of the Year

With the Pres night coming up on Friday has anyone heard who the contenders are?

I'd have thought the short list would be:-

Dunny
Simon Marshy
Nodi
Ian Walling
and maybe Rich Turner

Anyone heard anything or have the league scrapped this prize?

Month on month he obviously got under the radar, but seeing his return behind the sticks and his return of about 450 league runs, what about Fairy at NL? At least as a contender ..........

For me it would be between Dunny and Ian Walling.
Dunny held VC batting together, almost single handedly at times, and finished the season with a PS winners medal.

Ian took the most wickets in the Prem (by a mile!) and captained the 2020 team to win the competition. He also averaged 20 something batting at 8 with a highest score of 96.

Having said that who knows how these things get decided? It may just be who they like the most!

No mention of any Longridge players? League runners-up and Meyler Cup winners.

In my opinion Longridge were a side that played well consistently, as a team.

Neil Holden (500+) runs and Roey are obviously up there in the total runs/wckts charts but I think they relied more on everyone putting in performances and this is reflected in the stats.

Whereas, as you said, VC had Dunny blazing a run trail and Garstang had Ian with a massive amount of wickets there was no-one from Longridge who streaked away.

Personally I would be giving it to Tom Bailey. Another fantastic season to follow the last 2. Consistently the best bat in the league and now proving he has the skills to bowl a side out too. A genuine all-round Player of the Year for me.
