Re: Sunday Cricket

Clubs concerned about transport to away games simply ask the League to arrange local fixtures. This is what happens in the junior competition.

That was the idea Tel. Regionalise into Chorley/Preston/Fylde - three divisions of 8, top team plus best runner up in playoffs.
Minimum 14 games, maximum 16.

Instead they plump for one league of 24, but you only play 12 games. Crazy

At the meeting it was agreed that clubs were unconcerned about distance to travel. Indeed it was felt better that juniors played teams not in their normal arc.

As the games are played on a Sunday afternoon, surely if you have problems taking a 14/15/16/17 year old, if their parents are happy for them to play, shouldn't they take them or is a cricket club a babysitting service?

Whilst we encourage juniors, why do so many parents not take an interest, or be prepared to help out?

Because PRO, clubs like ours let juniors sign on for £15 a year then give 12 2 hour training sessions on a Wednesday so mum and dad can go shopping!

I'm not saying you should price kids out, but we have about 100 juniors down some nights. I'd like to say this means we have loads of quality battling for 33 places. but we don't

For some, it is cheap babysitting - 24 hours for 15 quid - bargain!
