Cup Games....
Would it not be more sensible to have the Cup games in the future decided by some other method than whether it is 1stXI, 2ndXI or 3rdXI?
For example, this year, Ribchester 1stXI of div 4 could have been drawn against Vernon Carus 1stXI of the premier?
And Grimsargh 2ndXI of div 6 could have been drawn against Great Ec 2ndXI of div 1?
I can't think of another system at the moment, but the current system does not seem to make sense.

Re: Cup Games....
The League Executive proposal is that:
Meyler cup will include the 20 1st teams in the Premier and Div 1.
Loxham cup will include the 4 2nd teams in Div 1 plus all teams in Div 2 & 3 except Vernons 3rds.
Crabtree cup will include all teams in Div 4 & 5 & 6 plus Vernons 3rds. 4th teams will be exempted and entry to the Crabtree cup will be optional for 2nd and 3rd teams.
These proposals should make cup games more competitive.

Re: Cup Games....
The Meylor Cup should be for 1st teams
The Loxham Cup for 2nds
The Crabtree cup should be for 3rds and 4ths
By setting up the situation in eltels scenario it basically eliminates any big club vs small club games and therefore just makes the cup a extension of the league.
If a club(say outside the top 2 divisions) wishes not to enter the Meylor Cup, maybe they should be able to opt to enter into one of the lower cups.
We are really making a rule to avoid one or two games happening.
The Cup is competitive at the moment
TCCC have had two close games vs a division one side and a division two side before getting beat by a Prem side this year.
The seeded prelimiary rounds are there to stop too many big guns meeting smaller opositions.
The current proposals would not reduce the amount of sundays used unless nobody opted in, then it would cheapen the Cup.

Re: Cup Games....
It may eliminate big club v small club but it also stops a team playing lesser opposition and getting to the final, and it presents smaller teams with a chance of winning the cup.
There is still a chance of a giant killing if a prem side draws a div 2 side, thats still not exactly an even match.

Re: Cup Games....
But eltel (and the committee proposal eliminates the prem vs div 2 games)
If your not good enough to get to a final - get better players
If your a small club - grow!

Its not the best comment you have made youngdiver, some clubs dont have the ways and means like your club, we cant all attract big sponsorship or afford nice facilities, i wwould of thought playing in Div 6 would of kept you in touch with reality...
