fenders for a 74 standard beetle help!
does anyone know if you can use 73 fenders on a 74 beetle? i have to replace all four fenders and it pretty expense with the 74 fenders but i can save a bunch with the 73 ones. if i can't please explain why...

74 is when the shock absorbing bumpers were introduced. The brackets on 74 and newer are actually cylindrical shock absorbers. The 74 and newer fenders have a triangular shaped hole for the brackets and rubber seals.
I imagine you could do some cutting and welding and get an older version to work, esp. if you have a used set for a pattern.
