Re: Whatcha Got?
Well, I don't have a classic but I do have a daily-driver that keeps me happy.
1989 Jetta Wolfsburg. I've been bringing it back to life slowly.
Its been repainted, new door handles, shift boot. Next up are linkage (I broke the 5th gear selector rod end), new struts, new half-shafts...etc..
Its a fun project.

I have a 65 sedan that I trying to get back together. Rebuild and painted pan almost together. Getting started on the body. Anybody know an easy way to remove the glue from the inside of the body after removing the upholstery?

Re: Whatcha Got?
Wow!! Gasoline!! I didn't want to burn it off (kidding). Doesn't the gas soften or remove the old paint as well? The old factory paint is not in bad shape and I think it would make a good bond for new paint as well as being less potential for rust.

Re: Whatcha Got?
Is it where you can scrape with something like plastic without messing things up? If so,try heating the glue with a hair dryer to soften. Heat temporarily rejuvenates most common glues. If this works, you can scrape the worst of it and then use WD40 and a tough rag.
If it is really strong, there may be a fine line between something strong enough, but still won't hurt your paint.
If you are talking about that contact cement... whoa.. good luck.
