Mentor wanted
Greetings,
I am looking for someone that is experinced in the ways of VW that would not mind spending a few hours on occasion with me in a VERY well equipted shop (7 bays, lifts, etc.) in Millington, TN. coaching me through any problems I might encounter.
I have aquired a well running 1974 Super Beetle. My intent is to fully stabalize (I hate to say "restore") it and make it a safe, reliable, daily driver for my daughter.
My first order of business will probably be the most heart-breaking one. I plan to peel back the carpets and go on the hunt for rust. Having driven 20+ year old Volvo's I'm pretty good at rust abatement and a big fan of POR-15.
After that I plan to gut the brake system and replace everything with discs instead of drums, new lines, etc.
Then re-do the front-end; steering, ball joints, tie rods, etc.
