Wacky Die Box?
Hey, Chance!
When I met you at MAGIC Live several years ago... I remembered seeing, in your booth, a wooden Die Box that you had made. Any chance you have any ideas on a Wacky Die Box... using something other than a die? Thought I would get the creative juices flowing here. Anyone have any ideas on this one.

Wacky Die Box?...lets ALL make this happen!!
Doug,
Excellent question with a not so excellent amswer.
I have given the Wacky Die Box a LOT of thought over the years. The challenge is creating a new plot that is logical to the basic prop itself. The best I have come up with is a a wrapped Gift with a BOW on top( great for birthdays and can be filled with a small present for the child ) but I have added a kicker which I think is pretty cool...with the front doors closed and the top doors accidently POPS OPEN...the BOW is seen to be slidding across during the sucker bit. This is a convincer gimmick shown at some point during the routine.
This whole idea is NOT thought out yet so maybe we can all dig in together and create a brand new effect! All ideas used will be properly credited
Let's wish us all luck!
Chance

Re: Wacky Die Box?
Hey there Chance, we talked about an idea on one of my boxes where a borrowed item goes into a box that slides around inside the box. In my routine the item is a watch that appears to be getting broken. I think if you use the gift to be a present for the guests that can be filled with candy or small magic tricks. The idea is tell the kids if they can guess where the present is they get to keep it. Then let the fun begin...just my thoughts. Brian

Re: Wacky Die Box?
I've decorated my old die with wrapping paper years ago for the holiday season, and liked it so much I've left it on year round. I love the idea of a Wacky Package. Maybe the die box could be a small mailbox. The package put in the mail"disappears" as it slides from side to side. Finally show the mailbox empty and the package wherever you'd like it to arrive.
Just a thought...

Re: Wacky Die Box?
You could make it a Wacky Cheese Box, and make the dice look like a block of cheese and you have to hide it from Meeko the Mouse (for use after Blow Yur Stack).
I also use a separate prop for producing the dice after the dice box, but I have no idea what it is called, so would have to descibe it or draw it. But basically you show the box empty before doing the Die Box routine and can then hand it to a child to hold during the routine and then the child opens the box and there is the dice or in this case cheese.
So in this case you could have it as Meeko's house put Meeko inside the house so he can't escape and pinch the cheese and then open the box and there is the cheese in Meeko's house!!
Just a thought!??
Must admit the more I think about it the more I like the idea
Cheers
Marcus

Re: Wacky Die Box?
Great idea, Marcus!
Here's another idea: How about a Wacky Garage with two garage doors? Place a "tool box" block into the garage or maybe the front of a car with cute wheels... add some oil from an oil can and it slides back and forth. Here's a pic of a possible garage:

Okay... let's see, where could the box or car end up at the end?
Just a thought!

Re: Wacky Die Box?
Great Car/Garage idea!
Why not let the Wolf have his own garage/mechanic shop and be driving the car back and forth when you go to pick it up and the car isn't ready. His head could be sticking up through the convertible top and be seen sliding back and forth as the box is tipped. The car could reappear in a "Pimp/Wolf My Ride" Garage of course it would need to be "Wolfed Out".

Re: Wacky Die Box?
I always love the die box routine that used a clock ...how about a die box routine with the jumping clock bit ...so it appears back on the table visably?
