The Jesus Myth

I went to one of our local concerts tonight. It was superbly done. The talent was exceptional. Your would pay $100 to see a show of similar talent in Vegas. The problem is that one of the numbers was religious rock, about Jesus dying on the cross, shedding his blood for you and me. Everyone else was raptly attentive and singing along, clapping their hands. I was sitting there looking at the floor, wondering how one overcomes this profound ignorance. It is so deeply emotional.
Jesus died on the cross because he lost his temper and got nailed for it. He believed in a personal god who would save him no matter what happened. When the chips were down, that god was not there. That's why his last words were "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" He finally realized that there is no personal god - and then he died.
It takes so long for stone tablets to crumble to dust.
